‘Breathing’. A thing that we do every time since we are born in this world. ‘Breathing’ is a process where your body is exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide inside your lungs frequently. Inhale, and exhale. This is an important thing to ‘do’ for us. Without breathing, you can lose your consciousness. Yeah, you can hold your breathe for a minutes or even more. This also counts. You can also extent your ‘holding-breath’ ability by having a healthy body. But, you can’t hold it forever. Breathing means that you are providing your body with oxygen. One of the most needed element in your body. You are also getting rid of your body’s waste, like carbon dioxide. An average healthy person can survive without breathing for about 4 minutes, maximum. Beyond that, the person should experience in high blood pressure, brain damage, or loss of consciousness (fainting).
There are some specific activity that require you to use a good breathing or a breathing technique. For example, singing. To sing, it means that you should be able to control your breathe. If your breathe is short, then it’d be disadvantage for you. If your breathe is long, then it’s an advantage for you. Usually, singers would use the ‘diaphragmatic’ breathing technique. This technique involves your diaphragm which will make your breath longer than the other technique.
The other example is snorkeling. Snorkeling requires you to be able to hold your breath longer. Thus, it requires you to have a good lungs. There are also pressure below water. If you want to go even further than snorkeling, which is diving. You’ll need not only good lungs, but also a good shape. Imagine, if someone who has weak lungs and body suddenly teleported to the deepest point of the sea. He would’ve been crushed in a millisecond. I mean, everyone would’ve be crushed too. But my point is, by having a healthy lungs, you can have several advantages from it.
Structure overview:
This text begins by defining what is ‘breathing’. Then followed with ‘why do we need to breath’, ‘what is likely to happen if we don’t breathe’.
