after the night with hackett, cat found life spiraling even more out of control when she found out she was pregnant with his child. it was a tormenting realization, but also a wake up call. instead of ending it before it could begin, cat decided to try... for the baby and herself. the teenager turned mother did everything she could to ensure a life for the baby, from seeking shelters and getting a job at a diner... to more drastic measures she wasn't proud of. anything to give tyler a secure and happy life. and she's managing. somehow.
LOCATION ;; run down apartment in new york city but is flexible on city
AGE ;; 18+ years
STATUS ;; teen mother, waitress at linda's diner, does some service work at a nightclub some evenings ( drunk people tip better ), and occasional illegal heist or activity that will pay well
after the horrendous evening with hackett, cat was confused by the signs. why she was getting sick so much more frequently, why cravings were hitting her, why her body ached with a tiredness not even she understood. though there was always a whisper in the back of her head. a whisper she kept ignoring, hoping beyond everything that it wasn’t true. that she wasn’t with child from the man who had raped her.
but it was true.
after learning this, she went to an abortion center, bent on finishing it before it could start. but as she sat in the waiting room, hands over her stomach, she thought. thought about the little life forming within her. thought about how giving it up now would be abandoning it before it could even have a chance. she didn’t want to be like that… she wanted to be better.
so cat fled the office and took to shelters. everything about her situation changed. she needed money fast. she needed a job, she needed anything and everything to help her raise this baby. in a way, being pregnant woke her up. now she wasn’t just surviving for herself, it was for someone else.
she got a job at a diner, got a job at a club, and started getting more involved in other illegal deals. of course, she had to break away from a number of these once her stomach started showing too much ( she didn't want to risk anyone attacking her there ), but she made up the money, she got an apartment. got a bed. got everything with the help of her jobs, shelters, and “donations” she could get off the streets.
when tyler was born, cat knew she had done the right thing. she was going to raise this baby well. he wasn’t going to have the life she had… he would go to school and be happy and loved forever and always. things were getting better, even if she was sinking a bit more into crime than she should.
but anything for ty.
he’s now two years old, and she’s actually got a decent thing going.
tyler often goes by ty and that's almost always how cat introduces him
cat has a couple of babysitter. three different kids that she met through her work at linda's. miranda, the daughter of the chef at linda's, carla, miranda's friend, and peter, miranda's boyfriend. they're kids cat has met in person and feels she can trust. they're also close her age and rather understanding - almost friends - with her, so they don't always make her pay them depending on her current financial struggles. often, they even take tyler back to their places, so he might refer to aunt miranda, aunt carla, or uncle peter at times since he's close to them. the chef, bobby, doesn't mind and has gotten carla and peter's parents to be understanding, as well
the other workers at linda's are essentially family to cat and help her out as best they can without being unreasonable. bobby is the chef, linda is the owner and works anywhere needed. waitresses/cashiers come and go but paulette and ashley have been regulars for a time. adrien works the kitchen with bobby
