a half vastayan, sarah's mother died when she was a baby, and her father disappeared with his tribe before she was even born. raised by her aunt and uncle who resented her, the two decided to sell her off to a man within the shadow order, deciding her inhuman existence might be better served at least protecting ionia. there, her master, copper, has helped her unlock the magic she carries and learn powerful methods of attack under a cruel fist that isn't afraid to give her more scars than even the enemy.

summary
born on a small island to the east in bahrl, ionia, sarah was too young to meet or remember her father or mother before both were gone from her life. her father, a feline vastayan himself, didn't know of the daughter he left from a passionate fling with a human woman. thus, as the tribe moved on from their camp near the town, he went off with them, anticipating feelings would be left behind. cadence, however, gave birth a few months later, and loved her dearly despite the oddities that she would carry due to her heritage.
unfortunately, cadence grew ill and passed before sarah even turned a year old. left with her aunt and uncle, she was raised with bitterness and resentment surrounding her existence. neither wanted her and only scorn and disgust was provided to her. the only human to really treat her kindly was a little boy named scott, whose father basically led the small town. the two played together, enjoyed each other's company, and, with him, sarah found happiness. he didn't care she was half vastayan, and the friendship he shared with her slowly eased his family to being somewhat more understanding of the other species. when not with scott, sarah was often found out in the forest, tending to flowers and plants and lying amongst the flowers.
however, her already broken life would fall to shambles when her aunt and uncle sold her off to a man from the shadow order. copper, a ruthless and terrifying brute, forced her to leave the land she called home, never even giving her a chance to bid goodbye to scott. his training began immediately, and she was ripped apart by his brutality soon enough. though his training has helped her unlock her nine lives ability and trained her in self defense that's made her a powerful force, the abuse and torment and understanding as to what she's doing makes for a bitter existence. the years have passed, her heart and soul numb. trying to escape has proven useless time and time again, and three of her lives have been ripped from her.
due to being entrapped within the shadow order, she did not endure hackett. vinnie was a fleeting romance within a town nearby, but when he scoffed at her for being vastaya after she revealed herself, she murdered him herself. while she hates the shadow order for the forced life, at least they have come to respect her due to the power she can unleash ( she also respects their desire to defend ionia ). copper gave her the name "cat" when he took her in order to strip her of some sense of self.
possible future: she is removed from copper's care and taken under kayn, where she grows to respect the order and its motives more. escaping the abuse does a number for her willingness to work with them even if she's still a bit reluctant.
abilities
she has an ability called NINE LIVES - essentially she's able to make up to eight copies of herself... or she was able to, at least. the copies work as she does, and while they have their own sort of conscious, they eventually will return to her after a certain amount of time. anything that "kills" a copy just explodes them into smoke and they return to her
using this ability does split her energy some between her copies
when the original her is killed, her conscious can jump into another body she's created. if she does not have a copy made, her conscious will not jump, however, and she will be dead dead. whenever her original self is killed, she loses a copy, so she has died three times, meaning she can only make FIVE COPIES now
minor shapeshifting abilities; able to hide her ears and paws and fur if she wishes. but it isn't simple, so she often doesn't
heightened sense of taste, smell, hearing, and sight. heightened touch with her whiskers
physicality/appearance:
still 4'9" and scrawny, her form is generally the same in most regards aside from her vastayan traits. her feline side is similar to a caracal, so she has brown-orange, fluffy tipped ears protruding from her brown hair. nails are like claws and patches of fur can be found scattered about her body. bottom half of her legs are furry, retrograded, and are paws. similar to the aspects of xayah and rakan that are bird, but instead kitty. she does also have whiskers and a short, fairly thin tail that reaches to the back of her knees. unlike a caracal, it's more flexible and dynamic.

she had more human traits than vastayan traits other than her connection to magic and her nine lives trick
she ages like a human
she cannot really see magic, just sort of feel it. and the lack of magic in the area doesn't necessarily weaken her too drastically, but it does have an effect, and her nine lives ability becomes harder to use
she can only make five copies now, meaning three of her lives have perished. two were under copper, the third an attack the order unleashed.
in this verse, cat's dad is generic, unnamed, and will never be used
she doesn't hate what the shadow order does, but her experience under copper has made her bitter and hateful of it. she doesn't truly know much about xayah and rakan's mission
