Monika Dietrich

(Countess de Stael)

Monika was born in Amberg, Verden in 1224 to Count (Stepan) De Stael of the region and his wife Alina. She was the only surviving child the couple had and was constantly set up for marriages with other noble houses from a very young age. She endured it with great disdain but was relieved when none of the marriages actually came to fruition.

Her father passed before being able to secure a marriage for her which left her to take over his role as Countess at the age of 20. That did not stop those wishing to secure a marriage with her however but she was able to swerve the majority of them.

As Countess, she focused on the things she enjoyed more than her own responsibilities and that was art and music. Her estate held countless parties and banquets with no expense spared much to the despair of her treasury.

It was at one of those banquets that she would have Jaskier/Dandelion to perform and the pair would start a very on and off relationship whenever he came around. She was charmed by the Bard well enough as he would sing for her and write beautiful poems for her and she didn't find him repulsive either. He was low enough in station that her advisors would never dare to try and arrange a marriage for her with him. It was safe.

As a partner though she would prove extraordinarily fickle and easily distracted. Dumping Jaskier/Dandelion for the sake of being bored with his company or finding someone else to capture her attention for a time.
