Anais is the sole heir to the Temerian throne. At the tender age of 10 she witnessed her father murdered by a Witcher named Letho despite his attempts to conceal it from her by making her and her brother leave the room.

The murder of her father left Temeria in chaos with families all vying for the throne. Even though she was technically a Bastard she had the strongest claim after her twin brother Boussy. When he was murdered, she fell in the hands of a sorcerer then was subsequently rescued by Vernon Roche. King Radovid of Redania sought to marry her after the death of her half sister Adda, who he had been betrothed to. However Roche has a change of heart and handed over the young girl to John Natalis who would keep her safe and serve as Regent until she came of age.

She knew of Geralt of Rivia’s innocence to the murder of her father but she could not find the words to say so due to the shock and trauma of it all. She remained angry at Letho however and all those behind the plot to kill her father and when handed a doll by John Natalis she requested a sword and to learn how to fight instead so she could avenge her father’s death. Vernon Roche gifted her his service dagger and was hopeful that she would make a fine Queen some day.

She learnt battle strategies from one of Temeria’s best soldiers and had the best education. Her journey to ascend to the throne was not without difficulty and many noble houses wanting to snatch it out from under the young girl but none could gather enough supporters to succeed.

She was taken into hiding when Nilfgaard took over Vizima to keep her safe from Emhyr’s clutches when she was 12 years old. There was negotiations that Anaïs would be allowed to rule Temeria as a Vassal State to Nilfgaard however Dijikstra killed and overthrew Radovid and Emhyr was killed by his own people. This left Temeria free and Anaïs was crowned queen of Temeria at the age of 17.
