When Stardragons became an open species, a number of the lore aspects were left incomplete.
As much information as we have been able to find has been placed here, but you may find the pages inconsistent because of this.
In the future we will look to try and fill in the blanks with imagery similar to what's been previously done. Thankyou for your patience and happy reading!
Also please note, lots of the FAQ is outdated in the sense of "we are going to do this" and "this thing isnt a thing yet" doesn't matter anymore, but we've kept all the questions for lore keeping's sake.
Author's Note: All of the sections are a collapsable textbox to avoid too much page stretching (I'm looking at you, Starshooters)
✦ Question: Where can I find X information, such as socials, info on species, ect (on this website)
Answer: Please refer to the Index for everything on this website. You can also ask around The Discord.
✦ Question: Why are all these questions colour coded the way they are?
Answer: A) Aesthetics and B) In an attempt to make them somewhat readable.
✦ Question: Can I make X type of Stardragon, Can I add X Trait, Can I add them to other worlds? (basically any kind of question where you are asking , can i do this thing with my Stardragon)
Answer: Yes. While you may see the words "Closed Species" around here, the original moderation team have long been out of the picture and there are no rules for Stardragons anymore, they are an "Open Species". Within the confines of this group-- please do not do anything illegal, do not steal characters or designs from others and be respectful of others around you and other CS/ OS groups.
✦ Question: So I can make adoptables?
Answer: Yes, by all means! We love to see it ♥
✦ Question: Sooo.. what happened with the species group originally for it to shut down.
Answer: There are a lot of various factors and details but we have a brief description in Disclaimer.

✦ Question:

✦ Question: In regards to Dragon's Back Island, What sort of settlement do the Crafters have there, given that there is an active volcano?
Answer: Crafters have a steampunk like city on the north side of the island. The seething veins, which are the active flows on the south of the island, have far fewer inhabitants since it's an active volcano, but the cavern systems are carefully excavated and go very deep. So deep, it extends both north and east under the ocean. And that's where most of the settlements lie.
✦ Question: Can crafters carve their tail gems into functional items, like weaponry etc? Like a hammer? or carve open parts into it to make a bell? or spikes in it to make a mace?
Answer: The crafter tail as it is, is already pretty good at being a weapon in a pinch. But like any gem modification, the more one does to it, the more fragile it actually ends up becoming. So in a way turning it into a hammer shape would make it less weaponlike in that there is now a higher chance it could crack on impact than had they hit them with the regular orb. This goes triple so if one was to drill holes in to make spikes since those bits would be grinding into the gem itself. And carving the gem to be spiked would greatly reduce the size of the gem and leave more fragile easy to break points on the gem. Carving into the gem to make a bell would be hollowing, which isn't possible by gem cut standards.
✦ Question: Can crafters swim or would they sink like a...well rock? Are they naturally weak against water or does it depend on the crafter?
Answer: Crafters are a bit more dense than the average stardragon so they have a harder time floating and swimming. But they are capable of the task. Well, some are more capable than others. Those who associate with fishers tend to be better than those who live exclusively underground or in the desert for obvious reasons. They have no real weakness against water, some even enjoy it quite a bit.
✦ Question: What kind of weapons do the desert crafters have, and do they have many different types of vehicles or just there loud bikes?
Answer: The desert crafters tend to be those who like to improvise and scavenge and innovate. Meaning their weapons usually have a wide range from simple to elaborate to "this is going to blow up in your hands you dipwit". Unlike shooters, the desert crafters tend to have a more ramshackled aesthetic to their weaponry and machinery since they operate them on natural resources rather than soul gems.
✦ Question: How hard are Crystalline StarCrafter's crystals in regards to their lifegems?
Answer: Since the deepforge crystals on a starcrafter are less magically infused than their lifegem, they don't have quite the same hardness. Probably more akin to the hardness of bone than actual rock.
✦ Question: How do StarCrafters go in out and out of the underground? are there just random holes? Is there a staircase? Are there multiple exits? if so where?
Answer: There's multiple exits all over the world, many caves around Jo'Arca from small to extravagant, so some can be humble holes in the ground, to grand, well crafted openings. Since Crafters are known for living underground, it wouldn't be unheard of for them to make an opening into the world above where it'd be most convenient.
Some well known exits would be located in Dragon's Back Island, Northern Oakmoor, Drevilheim Plains, and to the far, far left of The Capital.
✦ Question: Which species can crush/hurt their enemies with a tail smash if they wanted to.
Answer: Crafters. If they wanted.
✦ Question: Is it pretty much a given that all SDs are omnivores? Crafters can eat lava but are there any other SD species that can eat items humans can't? Or any that are more carnivore / herbivore focused on diet?
Answer: While all StarDragons are omnivores, some tend to lean one way or the other Eaters and Crafters, for examples, have a more herbivore diet while Fishers, Sweepers, and Robbers lean more towards carnivore.

✦ Question: Do deep forge crafters interact with other crafters or are they outcasts?
Answer: Not outcasts! A little scary and weird maybe, just because they're different, but it's more like the curiosity of a very distant people with a new and different culture. The different subtypes interact.
✦ Question: Do deep forge crafters get along better with fishers or about the same?
Answer: About the same, though the deepsea fishers are a little more antisocial.
✦ Question: Do some deep forge crafters develop bioluminecent traits?
Answer: Their shale is a bit more ...spikey? It's reminiscent of pillar crystals, and almost all of them glow.
✦ Question: Are they deaf?
Answer: Nope not by default. Though I imagine them to be a little more soft spoken. The sounds and lights of the surface can be A Lot.

✦ Question: Out of curiousity, with the starcrafters, would the be found more on Dragon's Back or any mountainous terrain?
Answer: The Crafters would mainly be on Dragon's Back, but that wouldn't stop them from being in different places. (Except for like, under the sea or something- though the idea of some sort of aquatic Crafter around underwater thermal vents sounds neat.)

✦ Question: Are there dashers with more feline or canine features? (i.e. like fangs, canines, claws in addition to their hooves? Sharpened antlers or horns?) Are there dashers with carnivorous tendencies or are all dashers like peaceful deerlike people? Can a dasher be as lethal as like a fisher or a shooter? (known for their archery but are they hunters or combative at all?)
Answer: Sure, though we're not about to come up with it. We'll pencil this under, 'The community is allowed to toss in their ideas on this one'.
✦ Question:Can Dashers have reindeer, moose and Irish elk antlers?
Answer: Yes.
✦ Question: Canonically, stardashers can wear their gem in their hair instead of between their horns. It stands to reason that their gem would have to be hollowed out somehow, as in almost all cases of this the dasher's hair comes out the other side (like the gem is a clasp or band of some kind). Are there other examples of dragons having hollowed out gems or are dashers a special exception?
Answer:Back when dashers were first made we only had the female ones and we had it that the orb gem was no magic for the ladies and the guys side gems had no magic. This was before we got really heavy into the lore and honestly was just aesthetically pleasing.
Nowadays we tend to just consider stardashers who do this do so because they had a "dud" gem which we mention in Here.
That said, we realize this is a very feeble grandfather clause to excuse why some dashers in the old bases have that aesthetic and we don't intend to implement it into the other races so dashers are a special exception... also mostly because every other race has their gems attached to them save for Weavers-- and it'd be a little odd to have naked space where the gem would be, and then a small puff of cloud. BUT! You're free to have your SD have big gem like things in their hair- it wouldn't be their actual life gem but we're not stopping you from adding those cosmetics.
✦ Question:Are we allowed to make kelpies based on the little info from the sketches in the one page posted way back? (or convert an existing dasher into one).
Answer: We'd highly advise against making any of the subspecies before they are officially released if possible. While we cannot fault the excitement, there is always a chance something may get changed by the time the finished version actually comes out since there is always a possibility that a trait with a rarity may come out of it not to mention the work of pinning down what traits actually go with the subtype. We're super sorry that it is taking so long! we hope to work things out very soon to get better release schedules going, and a donation support patreon to hep grease the wheels
Note: Re: Above; while alot of these outdated FAQ answer don't apply anymore, this one especially doesn't. Do what you want and the patreon no longer exists- so!
✦ Question: Has there ever been a dasher winking language? Can you wink in Morse code if you have multiple eyes?
Answer: There could be. We imagine it's more something bored kids would do. A secret password to get into the secret tree house. Some code a bunch of students got together and made to help cheat on tests. Feel free to get creative with all these eye shenaniganeries, if you want the morse code to be a thing.

✦ Average height is about 5'2"-5'8", with their ears and horns adding a few inches.
✦ Value stealth and running rather than barreling right on in and fighting hand to hand. A Dasher's hunting party generally takes down their enemy before their enemy even knows they're there.
✦ Prefers vegetables and fruits over meats.
✦ Worship all of the deities more or less equally. They are the most spiritual race second to the Weavers.

✦ Question: A little info on Kirin Dashers/ Kirindashers
Answer: A little something special. Kirindashers have been a thing for months, I just haven't really wanted to make any to sell lol. they're speshul :F
BUT YE in their lore, Kirindashers are a subspecies of stardashers that are highly spiritual, maintaining communication and balance between mortals and spirits, much like the Starweavers of the Shrine.

✦ Question: What of the Eaters who reside by No Man's Cove, are they affected by the volcano? Are they physically able to stray from No Man's Cove, or are they bound to that part of the island?
Answer: For the Eaters, they try to stay away from the volcano as much as possible. No Man's Cove is more like a tropical lagoon sort of settlement like Tortuga (From Pirates of the Caribbean). It's a pirates/trading settlement. But as always, Eaters are very adaptive. They might have shorter fur, or thicker paw pads so that they can walk on hotter surfaces.
They are also free to wander around. Just... not into an active lava flow. It's considered difficult terrain, so they can do it, it's just not going to be a stroll in the park!
✦ Question:How bendy or fragile are eater claws?
Answer:There's some folks who draw eater claws like regular digits so that they bend and can't grip things. And other people draw them more stiff and unbending like mole claws. It's up to preference really.
✦ Question: Most Stardragons have multiple gems on their bodies yet Stareaters do not. So can they not have faux gems to fool people from stealing their life gems?
Answer: No. Which makes them excellent targets for the shooters, due to their largely overall more docile nature, ability to adapt and survive on pretty much any food, and their singular life gem holding the entirety of their magic. They have flourished, but also become pretty good targets.
✦ Question:Do sloth eaters have slower metabolisms than normal eaters?
Answer:Seeing as they're bigger and can be pretty fast and are exceptionally strong, they likely have fairly high metabolisms and eat a fair bit in comparison to other stardragons. If anything, their laid back and napping nature is to try to help minimize their energy burning.

✦ Question: Are there any river clans/tribes of Fisher's canonically established?
Answer: We don't have anything established official yet. All things considered we don't even have any clans/tribes of the ocean fishers established either. This is... probably something we need to put on the to-do list. That said, we highly encourage people to make their own clans and tribes. Similar to folks being able to make their own villages and settlements, you guys have full freedom to make a tribe. We realize that likely the reason for the question was to try to find connections for one's character. Admittedly the mudskipper fishers are still relatively new so there aren't that many out in circulation just yet. But working on ways to increase interactivity and connections is a goal we have for 2018 in particular so hopefully we can help folks out on that this year. :)
✦ Question: Are visual/physical scales on fishers not allowed or has it just never been done/drawn before?
Answer: Our guess is it's not been done because we all want our wrists to live. But if someone wants to have their fisher fish-scaled then we don't see a reason why not. Just... we ain't drawing that cause we love ourselves.
✦ Question: Can fishers walk on land or do they have to have special equipment?
Answer: Fishers can walk on land freely. They're just not as graceful on land as they are in water.
✦ Question: Can mudskipper fishers have different tails or is the tadpole/salamander tail locked for that sub species?
Answer: Nope, they can have different ones! The bony fish tail is also considered a mudskipper trait. But they can have whichever tail! The main mudskipper identifiers are the cheek pouches, and the big stubby hands and feet.
✦ Question: Do you need to use real fish for uncommon fisher tails? Can you mix and match or base off of fictional species?
Answer: You'll have to go with real fish. Fictional things are sort of the legendary traits gig (IE: Leviathan). Plus there's... a massive selection when it comes to the Fisher's tails, so we don't feel the need to add more to the pile.
✦ Question: Are Fisher's coats 'slimy'?
Answer: Not particularly. If someone really wants to play their fisher as having a coat of slippery slime to them we aren't going to stop them. There may be a subtype with a more slimy inclination to it eventually though.
✦ Question: Are there salt water and fresh water fishers? Would a salt water fisher have trouble adapting to a freshwater pond? And vice versa?
Answer: Yes, Mudskippers are fresh water Fishers. In theory a fresh-water fisher can adapt to salt water and vice versa but much like salmon they need to take time to get used to the transition if they don't want it to be incredibly painful. Of course a fresh water can still swim in salt water- and visa versa, but if they plan on living in it and breathing under the water... it'll take time.
✦ Question: Do fishers actually have underwater cities? Like, some sort of Atlantis?
Answer: Yes! We don't have any specific ones with names, or plotted out- but it's in the works for eventually!
✦ Question: Can fishers have no legs and just a tail, like merfolk?
Answer: If you would like to chop their legs off and have them swish around with their tail, but otherwise there's no legitimate merfolk. That being said, if you want an AU where they're a mermaid, by all means!
✦ Question: Can Fishers be fuzzy?
Answer: Yes, if you'd like! That's going to be an eventual subtype, like having seal fur. However, that subtype has not been fleshed out beyond 'we know they'll have fur', so those will be seen one day in the future.

✦ Question: How tall can robber horns get... And with that robber horn question, can they curl different ways besides the default way shown?? Like can they curl outwards slightly like ram horns n stuff?
Answer: We want to avoid getting too far into Eater territory for now. However perhaps some time in the future there may be a subtype that allows more wiggle room.
✦ Question: As a robber, how far can you range from your head and still function? Like, can I stick my head behind this potted plant then walk my body to the next room and sit down there and be a spy? Can I walk three blocks away? Four? What is the maximum distance I can be headless?
Answer: It's not entirely so much distance as it is time. Like obviously if someone grabbed a robbers head and threw it down the street... they aren't going to drop dead once it reaches 20 feet away. But the farther it goes and the longer apart the magic keeping a robber together and apart starts to grow weaker. There would be some warning signs that the distance is too far, like starting to lose focus and mobility gets more and more difficult because the robber is essentially "drowning". But long-term separation is generally not recommended since eventually enough distance or time would exceed the magic holding them together and they'd become undone. However, if the body doesn't have its head... well, it's going to have a hard time traveling anywhere, since a body without a head can't really see.
✦ Question: Does it matter which way a robber's belly mouth goes? Does it have to be vertical or can it be horizontal?
Answer: Yes! The belly mouth can be vertical or horizontal. It's artist choice.
✦ Question: Do the belly mouths have tongues?
Answer: Same with the tongue in the belly mouth... we're not sure how that works anatomically speaking, and just think it's rad to be honest.
✦ Question: Has Helgin ever raised someone up as a robber that's been dead for over a century? Or does he have an expiration window for that sorta thing?
Answer: We generally try to not make an absolute deadline other than "longer than a couple days" and "shorter than a couple years" since it lets people have some wiggle room to work in. Mostly due to the nature of the stardragon afterlife since those who die are judged by Helgin and that usually isn't a century long process. Basut, however, has a tendency to put his nose where his nose shouldn't belong. StarDragons who have been dead far longer could find themselves coming back around with Basut's interference. There's yet to be any record of a StarDragon showing up after they've been dead for ten years though.
✦ Question: What is the common cultural etiquette of Robbers if they have any! And by that I mean not ALL robbers would follow this but just what you think is common. Like is it SUPER rude for a robber to poke another robber in their exposed ribs?? Or their tummy mouth?? Maybe it's rude to like. Place your severed head where another robber sleeps?
Answer: Robber culture is actually...very recent all things considered. The reality is that robbers are in many ways still a very new race to exist in Jo'Arca according to lore, and so are the rarest stardragon race in terms of population numbers. The majority of robbers have been loners and wanderers, and it is actually only recently that they were even recognized as a race to even have a "leader" represent them in regards to a leader councils. As it stands, the robbers are still trying to forge a culture and world for themselves, attempting to give themselves a unique cultural identity despite many still also lingering onto the remnants of their former race's lives. They don't have any major settlements and only recently have begun to band together. So there isn't really any cultural etiquette at the time and will vary from robber to robber, though most tend to be uncomfortable with the being poked through the ribs or their mouths. Robbers may not have like your typical family when they gain awareness but is it a common practice that they would attempt to like. Make an artificial family? Or are they more of a hive kinda bunch? It really depends on the robber. Some have reconnected with their families in life, others have banded together with other robbers to form pseudo families. And some have reported severblights acting in a bit of a hive mind manner but nothing confirmed. It is very open for interpretation.
✦ Question: Can Star Robbers come back with a crushed gem that forms a cluster in their chest?
Answer: Sure can.
✦ Question: Can a Star Robber, if somehow they were somehow taken apart, put themselves back together?
Answer: There is some novelty to be had with the beheading or the idea of them having to reattach a limb that came off while it's still wiggling. But the various body parts can't be disassembled entirely and work individually on their own. It's likely more a case of after the first limb removed (head included in this), the more likely that further limbs will just not work because the magic isn't strong enough to keep it functioning. Hence why most robbers choose instead to stitch the parts back on.
✦ Question: Is there like a chrysalis stage or something that turns a dead body into a robber? I mean, the robber body is somewhat different from a fisher body for example.
Answer: The process of becoming a robber is more a thing of godly magic than science so there isn't really a chrysalis stage or even the need for the original body to be part of the process at all. Especially considering Helgin (or Basut if he's sneaky) may raise a robber whose stardragon remains were completely destroyed or cremated. Many people like to roleplay the concept that the body of their starrobber is the original body but transformed, but that is up to their preference and not a hard rule. A Star Robber is perfectly capable of coming back, busting down the door to their relatives house, and stealing their own funerary urns ashes.
✦ Question: How does the undead thing work with robbers? Are their bodies still prone to decay? Or is everything in stasis? Are their organs still viable and safe? Can they sell their organs in like the black market if they are still good? Or are robbers undead in like a vampiric way? No need to eat or sleep or breathe but they do so anyway?
Answer: They're in stasis due to Helgin's magic. And while their organs are safe, using them for others wouldn't be plausible- if they even have the organs, as most of their bodily functions function on that given magic. Once removed from the body, they rot rather quickly due to no longer having Helgin's magic attached. In addition, not many would want anything from Robbers due to the stigma that surrounds them. In addition, while they're kept alive and together because of Helgin... that doesn't mean they're entirely free from decay. Think of it like hygiene care. If you don't take care of yourself, brush your teeth, take a bath, etc, there's consequences. Same for Robbers. They may fall apart if they don't care for themselves- hygiene after death is important!! Lastly, they don't need to eat, but still can. They don't need to sleep either, but it is said that sleeping regularly helps their longevity, and keeps their end-of-life madness from affecting them sooner.
✦ Question: Are all robbers fated to go into madness before their permanent death? Was this purposeful of Helgin or a side effect or mistake he wasn't expecting?
Answer: Like many things in the SD world, if someone really doesn't want to play with that concept and would rather avoid it all together they are welcome to make their robber an exception or particularly sharp of mind to keep the madness at bay. As for Helgin, it is one part mistake and one part intent. His initial attempts at robbers were far more vicious and monstrous since he originally tried to design them with a strong drive to seek out revenge for their wrongfully taken lives. But since then he's gotten far better about them retaining their sense of identity and self. But in the end Helgin never intended for the robbers to live forever, they were sent back with purpose or for a second chance. It's safe to say a robber has however many years their original lifespan would have had before madness may start to creep in. So if a stardragon on average lives to around 100 and one dies at 20, it's very likely they have a good 80 years before madness really starts to creep. And some who are particular focused may be able to go far longer.
✦ Question: Towards the end of a robbers life as they go into madness, is it a slow transition or can they become rabid all of a sudden?
Answer: It's a slow transition, hence why some are able to see the signs and do stuff to keep their minds sharp to stave it off.
✦ Question: Is there anyone trying to find a way to prevent the (Robber's)madness or is it just accepted as something that happens?
Answer: Much like there are living stardragons trying to stave off death and discover immortality, there are likely those Star Robbers who are trying to find a way to do similar in their situation by fending off the madness. Most however accept it as the natural thing that happens.
✦ Question: Since Robbers "Lifegems are often cracked, dull, and lifeless" if you have a robber with a dull/cracked gem does that mean they're less coveted by Shooters? And also does that mean for doing past images of them when they were living we can up the saturation of their gems/eyes if we so choose?
Answer: As a robbers magic is gifted from Helgin and not their gems, robbers are generally considered worthless for the purpose of gem harvesting. And the stigma of the undead tend to make them less desired as slaves, though there are a few shooter circles with an interest in the macabre who highly prize robber slaves. And yes. Some people even just opt to not bother with making the robber gems dull and lifeless, preferring to keep the initial brightness.
✦ Question: Do robbers have subtypes within their own species. I don't mean like severblight but do robbers even recognize what some of their own kin was before they died? Like a robber with extra fins be known as a former fisher? or a robber with long legs and sleek body known as a former Sweeper? or are the traits the recieve in death/rebirth random?
Answer: When Helgin recreates the stardragon into a robber, the Star Robber is being reformed into its own new race. Which could mean also drastically changed heights and sizes (since say for example the average crafter is around 4'5" and the average robber is 5'7") So it can be fairly random. In many ways, the Star Robber is their own unique race. And while people are free to add small touches here and there to try to offer hints about their former lives, design wise the race tends to stay close to its template.
Especially since from the business of making adopts end of things, many stardragons have traits unique to their race and even rarities associated with them. So we want to avoid Robbers ending up sampling too much from the other races and watering down their own.
✦ Question: Would it be alright to create a toddler star robber?
Answer: Lore wise, there's no reason why they would. Robbers do not age. They just... deteriorate over time, go mad, and have to be put down. Helgin would have no reason to bring a child back, as it's rather cruel to bring back someone who would not age, eventually go mad, then either die or be put down. Hyth would probably have him sleeping on the couch for that one. In lore, the youngest Robber is probably about 16. But nothing's stopping you from going full Interview with a Vampire in your own AUs and having children be Robbers. Your admin Cloneclone is guilty of that himself.
✦ Question: Can robbers still use magic, or is it dependent on the state of their gem? Would there be any differences in magic between robbers and other species? And on that note, what if the robber was previously a shooter? Can shooters be brought back?
Answer: Robbers can indeed use magic, though the source of their magic is via Helgin. There's no real difference in strength. If you want to play up your robber being weaker in magic or stronger in magic due to their change...that is an option you can definitely go for. There's been talk in adminland of making a Shooter-Centric Robber where they are vampiric and suck the magic out of others. But if people prefer to just have their shooter brought back by Helgin so they can roleplay out the strangeness of coming back to life in a body now with magic, that is also an avenue people are free to explore. An easier breakdown would be: Shooters brought back by Basut = vampiric in nature, draining magic directly from others. Shooter brought back by Helgin = follows the same principles as all robbers Please note, this may change if/when this becomes an actual robber subtype. So while we welcome folks to play around with the concept, keep in mind if it did ever become a full blown subspecies there may be tweaks to the final product.
✦ Question: What is the "policy" on wanting to draw your Robber's backstory? Since they would have been alive prior to being a robber, are we allowed to draw (with all common traits) the living version of our robbers, so long as it is clearly the same star dragon?
Answer: We've had a few folks in SD-land curious if they could do an old family photo or reference their starrobber from back when they are alive. On this front, we tend to allow it as long as: A: it is clear it is the same stardragon (same markings/colours etc) B: it is obvious that it is a reference to their backstory/past or a simple "what they looked like when alive" The main thing we want to avoid is for someone to get so wrapped up in the stardragons backstory that they essentially begin rping almost a second character entirely. In the case of stardragons, the focus should be on the starrobber of the present, not the stardragon from the past. Images done of the stardragon when they are alive should ideally be marked in descriptions as so. And they shouldn't take up the lion's share of a StarRobber's gallery.
✦ Question: Can robbers have webbing between their fingers and toes? Like a croc or alligator?
Answer: Yes. Not to the level of Fishers, since Fishers are Fishers, Robbers are Robbers, but they can mimic croc'gators.
✦ Question:Can Robbers come back with different color gems than they started with?
Answer:Yes.
✦ Question: I know you're allowed to make a living version of a robber so long as the robber form is the main form/character. But if we use another bought design (or a myo slot) as the living version do we have to sell/trade them together or in general what does that effect?
Answer: There have been some folks who have used a pre-made robber to be their robber form, as well as a pre-made design to be their robbers living form. For that, we tend to treat it as on a sale basis they are their own designs. Much like how most people wipe a characters backstory away when they adopt a new design...the same would apply to that. They can be sold separately (which often happens the most when people decide they dont want an alternate version) or the person can offer them both up for sale at the same time if they wish. Each design is essentially its own design. Which is also why we are such stickler about the twins being different enough. So no, you don't have to trade or sell them together because each design is their own unique stardragon for the sake of sales/trade purposes.
✦ Question: In the case of a Robber Chimera that has a gem that isn't dull, does this mean you can kill a Chimera by breaking the gem like a regular SD?
Answer: They're pretty much just a Robber, so however a Robber dies/doesn't die is how a Robber Chimera does/doesn't die. It should also be noted not every Robber's gem is dull. (this is in part because some folks LOVE THE GLOWIES and that is ok!) Also not every robber even has a gem! So a Robber Chimera would still be more powered by Helgin's magic than their own life gems since they are still essentially undead. Which means they would die in the same way a Robber would rather than in a way a normal SD would.
✦ Question: Are Chimeras that are part Robber a StarDragon that died and was raised with traits from their former selves, or the offspring between a Robber and another species?
Answer: Chimeras of a robber/other race is our way of essentially letting people have robbers that retain the traits of their former lives because it was a commonly requested thing. Since robbers themselves are infertile/sterile, there would be no way for a robber to have a child to create a robber/other race chimera. PS: chimeras of a robber/other race are also infertile. They're still dead jim. Lore wise, it's Hyth and Helgin pretty much collabing on a Robber.
✦ Question: Vampire robber traits can still be mixed and matched with other subtypes right? Like severblight? Or does that not make sense lore wise?
Answer: All subtypes can be mixed! A Dasher can be both a Desert and Kelpie Dasher. If Weavers have 5 subtypes down the line, and someone wants their Weaver to have traits from every single subtype, then by all means, have all those traits. The basic subtype traits are for the most part common (Some of the uncommon-rare traits could be said to be based off subtypes. Like a Desert Dasher can have the uncommon bloom tail/horns that are cactus plant based, or an Arctic Weaver can have have snow coming from their tail for the rare weather tail trait), and commons can be mixed across the board as long as it stays within that species, so have fun. Subtypes are simply made to give people more of an insight on the StarDragon's different cultures, along with background environment examples, and new trait ideas. So. Go wild.
✦ Question: For uncommon robbers with the vents: do those gases do or smell like anything?
Answer: It's up to owners preference! They can smell amazing, or terribly. The vents can release a sleep powder, or just be steam. As Captain Planet says, the power is yours.
✦ Question: If Vampire Robbers don’t have a life gem and are usually shooters who don’t have to hold to the eyes and gems matching rule, are they still beholden to the rule that eyes have to match that most other species abide by? Aka Vampire Robbers can get heterochromia or no?
Answer: No. While they were Shooters in life, they're now Robbers in death, so they would still abide by the eyes/gems matching. The design rules of the species outweigh the lore fluff!
✦ Question: How long to vampire robbers "Live" For? Are they like normal vampires where they can be immortal if fed well enough? I imagine their hunger would be what makes them feral.
Answer: Since they're so new it is hard to really tell how long they'll live for. Most theorize that because of the nature of their abilities and who brought them back, they may well be immortal as long as they have magic to consume to keep them going. Basically: can live forever as long as there is food. If they don't keep feeding they'll start to waste away and weaken until they eventually die. This could cause them to go into a frenzy.
✦ Question: Can Robber Vampires mind control people like movie vampires do?
Answer: Any StarDragon save for Shooters has the potential to mind control someone if they practice that magic. Vampire Robbers can do the same, once they've managed to drain the magic from another to do so, but they do not come with the natural ability to do so, no!
✦ Question: Are there robber hybrids where it carries traits from both species it was previously in a past life?
Answer: There are not! That'd be a bit too much to handle. Business wise, for the sake of ease, hybrids are two different species rather than three.

Misc Info:
✦ Average height is about 5'2"-5'8", with their ears and horns adding a few inches.
✦ Value stealth and running rather than barreling right on in and fighting hand to hand. A Dasher's hunting party generally takes down their enemy before their enemy even knows they're there.
✦ Prefers vegetables and fruits over meats.
✦ Worship all of the deities more or less equally. They are the most spiritual race second to the Weavers.

✦ Question: Info Blurb on StarRobbers
Answer: Though many starrobbers have integrated into society and 'behave' well enough, there are still plenty that roam the gravewastes, spelling death for those foolish enough to trespass. It's said that starrobbers are the undead stardragons who were killed unjustly for their magic, risen by the great black dragon god Helgin as punishment against their murderers. Starrobbers sap magic from other dragons, robbing them of what was first stolen from them.

✦ Question: Do StarShooters have a flag language for their ears? And what is the movement range for their ears?
Answer: Developed by military and hunting teams as a form of visual long distance, simple command or warning communication. There's only so many ways they can turn their ears, they won't be able to have full on conversations with a flick of their ear.
✦ Question: Short ear shooters can't be seen from quite as far away.
Answer: Shooters have the same movement range as a cat would have.
✦ Question: Do shooters have any special birth laws? Like only one kid. Or must have two. Or do they get a baby bonus or anything?
Answer: If anything it could be that there was an incentive and those who do have more children tend to be given bonuses/title boons...but due to shooters having a fairly low birth-rate it is actually fairly hard for them to conceive so anything mandatory would only hurt the populace rather than benefit.
✦ Question: Can Shooters get fluffy in the winter, or is this locked in as a subtype thing only?
Answer: They're free to be fluffy in the winter months only! Though they wouldn't be as fluffy as say, a Shooter who has lived in the arctic for years, versus a Shooter who lives in a climate that goes through 4 seasons. You have to keep the designs and colors the same though, the only difference is fluffy levels.
✦ Question: Are normal Shooters racist against other subtypes of Shooters?
Answer: No. While this doesn't mean a normal Shooter wouldn't look at an arctic Shooter and guffaw at their fluff, it's not as common as a Shooter looking at an Eater and considering them an animal. The Shooter's hate for the other races revolves mostly around the fact other species have magic while the Shooters do not. And also because the other races are so different from them. Less a racial bias but a class bias, some of the noble elite tend to look down on the arctic shooters as low class citizens just one step above the criminals they often guard in the prison outposts.
✦ Question: Would shooters ever use severblights to spread infection to get rid of other species?
Answer: Shooters don't really want to outright destroy the other races. They ultimately do require the gems to fuel their devices, whereas robber gems are unusable for such purposes... additionally, robbers also make for bad slaves.
✦ Question: Have shooters ever thought to use severblights like attack dogs? To like sniff out other races to capture or just attack them for funsies?
Answer: Severblights as a subtype tend to not be very reliable or trainable or stable. Especially not in comparison to an actual attack animal. That isn't to say there may not be exceptions. If people want to make a shooter/severblight duo for this kind of scenario they are perfectly able to do so. It's just not a practice most would consider or survive the attempt.
✦ Question: Is there an anti slavery political movement currently in starshooter society?
Answer: There are several anti-slave movements, though many of them are overt and underground movements as it is not the most popular of opinions in the shooter lands. As it stands, there is no openly political movement. The most one usually finds is a carefully worded bill trying to improve the slave's conditions under the guise of better treated slaves create better economic improvement.
✦ Question: Are there any laws that govern the rights of slaves?
Answer: There are several laws to govern the rights of slaves but they tend to be reflective of the outpost and local authority. For example Blackwatch tends to view slaves as little more than cattle and property with no rights or authority. While the Regiment Outpost has considerable more rights, even so far as allowing slaves to inherit land and titles and a subclass citizenship from their owners. For the most part, the amount of rights a slave has is generally dependent on the one owning them. (This is in part to allow people the freedom to RP their slave/owner concepts with as much or little complications as they desire)
✦ Question: Where do star shooters get slaves? So they go raiding? Is there a central slave market?
Answer: Starshooters hold raids, and even worse, breed slaves into captivity to provide the most mild mannered "product" for the market. Most imports are processed through blackwatch, where the market is on par with the capitol. Higher valued slaves are usually sent to the capitol for pickings, but blackwatch, being the main naval port and trade center for the shooters, sees the largest volume of traffic and sales.
✦ Question: What is schooling like for shooters? Is there a University? Are there private schools?
Answer: Shooters have the most structured education of all the stardragon races, with public schooling made available to every young shooter to offer them a basic (if not slightly propagandic) education, and private schools are fairly common for the more wealthy and noble who desire to advance their children's education. Homeschooling and private tutors are also fairly common for those who can afford or prefer. Most of the shooters cities have some equivalent of second education like universities for those who wish to specialize in certain fields but in many cases this is a luxury only really afforded to the elite, wealthy, or those who serve extra terms of military service so as to gain a military scholarship can afford.
✦ Question: With carved ear gems in shooters, is it because they don't carry life in them like in the other races? Actually how do shooter ear gems work? Are they just decorative?
Answer: Shooters carve their ears for the same reason other StarDragons carve them I'm sure. To make them aesthetically pleasing. While they might not have life in their gems, we do still keep to the gem rarities for business reasons. Their ears gems still grow as they grow, and they're attached above the ear hole rather inside the ear hole so that they can still hear. Lorewise, we tend to say that the reason shooters don't indulge in much carving is simply that with how thin the ear is, there is a much higher risk of damage as well as risk of debris and gem-dust falling into the ear itself. That and the few shooters who do engage in the practice all confirm it's painfully loud so most do not have the patience to sit through what often feels like a root canal dialed to 11.
✦ Question: How do shooters get their weapons, are they just issued or something else? Like can any shooter make a magic weapon. Is it something that all shooters can do even if they are not apart of the military?
Answer: There is an entire division of shooters that specialize in the blacksmithing and weaponcraft arts. Making a magic weapon is like any craft and trade skill, so not every shooter is going to have the knowledge or skills to craft one. Much like how the average person in our world likely does not know the first thing about how to craft jewelry or a sword. The average shooter is likely to get a military standard set of weapons issued as part of their training. Some shooters specifically teach themselves so that they can create more personalized and customized weapons to their unique talents. And there are many smiths out there in the shooter empire who gladly offer their services to create something more unique and higher quality than the typical military standard.
✦ Question: If any shooter can make a magic weapon, is it limited to a single style of weapon or can they change it to fit there needs?
Answer: Sort of similar to above, different weapons require different skills to manufacture them. Someone who can smith a bladed weapon likely has little understanding of how to smith a pistol or crossbow. And most smiths prefer to specialize to make a high quality of one type of weapon that their name brand is known for. There may be a few jack of all trades out there, but they are few and far between. Any shooter has the capability of learning how to make a magic weapon. It's more a matter of if every shooter has the opportunity and drive to. In the sense of, crafting weapons is a learned skill. Not an innate skill. One could even say a non-shooter could learn how to make shooter weapons if they were so inclined.
✦ Question: Can any shooter buy a magic weapon from a shooter blacksmith?
Answer: That is the purpose of a blacksmith, yes!
✦ Question: How do shooters siphon the magic from other species? Can they do so without harvesting gems (i.e. Siphoning while the other species are still alive) or is this done only after gems are harvested? Can shooters use a living host as a magic battery?
Answer: There has been a lot of time and research (and government funding) into various shooter research of if there is a possible way to siphon magic from living stardragons. With the idea that it would be more lucrative to use a renewable energy source than current manner. However all projects and attempts have lacking results. The process is exceeding painful and unstable which causes a high mortality rate in subjects, and the energy result is lacking in comparison to simply harvesting the gems outright. Most suspect this is because while still living the process is being resisted by the stardragon's spirit itself. Whereas once dead, the soul gem is now just pure energy with no counter force. The other struggle is that stardragons that are raised and brought up in shooter society to be docile and subservient usually have very weak magic...thus the more likely a stardragon would be to submit to the process willingly, the less magic and energy they would even be able to apply compared to a wild and free-spirited stardragon. Similar instances have been confirmed with stardragons whose wills have been broken. Regardless of how powerful they were, it seems that shattering a stardragons psyche can equally shatter their magical potential. Research continues on however. So who knows what the future holds. As for the method, that's still....well lets just say it's quite a terrifying device they have going on in those research labs. Which may be in part as to why there is a lot of resistance. Since shooters themselves do not have magic, there is currently no portable way in which the average shooter can just siphon magic from a would be host. Though there are rumors of the occasional rare shooter born with magic working on said siphon projects.
✦ Question: How durable are the shooter's crystal claws? And if they are damaged can they heal like skin if they somehow knick them on accident?
Answer: They're fairly durable, much like most shooter gems would be. In somewhat the same way that the tail gems can float despite, there is enough of a lingering magic to the shooters gems (and therefore gem-claws) that allow them the hardness and durability most stardragon gems possess. If not a bit more so in the case of shooter's claws, almost as if there was an understanding that they would be more exposed to damage and danger. The crystal claws shooters possess are quite strong, able to leave scratches on other gems. But they aren't invulnerable and if they do get damaged or broken they will not heal back. And it apparently does hurt like a b- ...very painful thing.
✦ Question: How many shooter troops are stationed on the arctic? Is it a visited outpost or an almost forgotten one?
Answer: We don't really have an exact number because exact population numbers scares our non mathematical brains, but it is a fairly large outpost that is visited with relative frequency. It's where the starshooters biggest prison is located so they tend to keep it fairly well manned...for both repelling invaders and keeping prisoners inside.
✦ Question: So necromancy is illegal, because stardragons believe that, and time and life magic to be only for the Gods but considering shooters aren't too big on Gods, except for maybe Basut? what's the capitol's views on time, life and death magic, is there just a smidgen more leniency- obviously not a big leniency, but just kind of like an "if you joke about it in the capitol, you're not going to get as many sneers and downcast glares"?
Answer: Shooters, as is their usual nature in the SD world, are an odd case. Because magic itself is incredibly rare, most shooters tend to turn their noses up at all types of magic...most seeing the practice as barbaric and uncivilized along with rumors that the shooter in question may have the bloodline of the more savage races running in their veins to have such an ability. Those who aren't so critical to magic in general don't really have as much taboos about any of the magics. They view magic as a tool to be used regardless of type.
✦ Question:Does Basut offer any blessings or advantages to shooters. Like the other gods do or is it all just rhetoric that shooters are better?
Answer: The rare traits, such as multiple eyes and magic would be the blessings Basut bestow and, of course, the legendary traits. The legendary traits and multiple eyes being gifts of Basut's likeness, and the magic being something he deemed his kind should have. The magic is far more erratic, much like Basut himself, so it shows- unlike the other StarDragons whose magic is contained until being cast. Unfortunately, Shooters are their own worst enemy and sometimes see these blessings as a curse
✦ Question: Do shooters that can use magic have to have matching eye and gem colors?
Answer: Nope. They can still be rebels with the eye/gem colour!
✦ Question: Can shooters have curled ears like the American Curl?
Answer: When it comes to minor trait aspects like 'can fishers/robbers have scales' 'can shooters have this style of ears' 'can sweepers have paw pads' 'Can I give my dasher clydesdale stompers?' etc...the first thing we as admins tend to factor is "Can this trait be mistaken for a trait of this species that has a rarity attached to it". In the case of American Curl ears, that falls to "would this be mistaken for flared or multi-gem ears?" which would be a no. The second thing we tend to factor is "Would this be untrue to the spirit of the species or break the silhouette?". In this case, since the American Curl is a variant of cat ears and shooters are commonly referred to as the most feline of the stardragon species...tapping inspiration from different cats makes logical sense so that clears. That said, people are always free to submit an example of what they had in mind via the edit form in case they feel uncertain since we also realize there is that nervousness of not being 100% sure if what you think is fine is considered too far. But also keep in mind that outside of Jo'Arca lore people can make their stardragons have muzzles and have feral forms so we tend to be pretty easy going about a lot of things outside of making sure the gem/eyes match(except for shooters) and abiding by the rarity tiers.
✦ Question: How flexible are shooter tail plates, like can they bend if they rub against a wall or bed, or what not?
Answer:They're flexible, but if bent too far, they can snap. However, they're not so fragile that a knock against a door is going to break them. Someone will have to be putting in some effort if they want the plates to break, which is generally why broken plates come from either engraving accidents, or harm caused during a fight.
✦ Question: Do Shooters eat other SDs? And if so, is there any delicacies or popular recipes?
Answer: Shooters do eat other SDs, and you're free to make up your own delicacies or recipes.
✦ Question: Can shooter gems shift colour in depending on the lighting angle or are they like a fixed gradient? (basically moonstone lol)
Answer: Shooters do not have to abide by the same eyes/gems matching as the others, so to the gradient shifting (Like a moonstone!), is fine. Just we draw the line at randomly shifting in color like xmas lights.
✦ Question: If the shooter overlord has a Diamonds and a Spades, do they have a Clubs and Hearts? What exactly are the roles of all of them?
Answer: The four pillars of the overlord are a structural network of officials that help the Shooter empire maintain control over its conquests; originally coined by Maria Elise Sterling, previous overlord of the Sterling empire before her son, Theodore Sterling. The Overlord's Spade - Head of Military affairs. Previously: Bassett Odallom. Currently: Voodoo Sterling. The Overlord's Diamond- Right hand advisor and international diplomat. Previously: ??? Currently: ??? The Overlord's Clover - Navy captain overseer and commodore of the empire's fleet (The clover to the king may choose two appointed officials that report from overseas colonial affairs.) Previously: ??? (Deceased) Currently: Dante Toriest Lutzguarde The Overlord's Heart - Overlord's spouse and overseer of domestic affairs Previously: Elisabeth Sterling (Deceased) Currently: None.
✦ Question: Are SDs ever poached by shooters for their horns? Anything else except for gems?
Answer: Shooters can take whatever they want from other StarDragons, be it fur, horns, feathers, meat... Some get creative, some just want the gems
✦ Question: Does Helgin ever Regret creating Starshooters?
Answer: He's more focused on Basut, and regrets him rather than the entire species. Not all Shooters show themselves to be bad. Just as all Weavers don't show themselves to be good. He doesn't damn the entire race solely due to the misguidance and greed of the majority. But most of his displeasure goes to Basut specifically.
✦ Question:Do shooters have free health care?
Answer: They do! The shooter population is much smaller than that of the other races thus easier to provide, and their tax system helps provide a free health care for the entire populace. There is incentives for tax discounts and extra health benefits for those who enlist their time in the military, as part of the overall racial propaganda.
✦ Question: The rare elemental trait for Shooters, is that something they can 'turn off'? Or is it always visible?
Answer: The irony being the best teachers are non-shooters...and the racial superiority is often strong enough that most shooters would not stoop to take lessons from a lower race. So for many shooters it is a double edged difficulty.
✦ Question: How do shooters treat their own kind who have been turned into robbers? Would their social rank suffer from the forced species change?
Answer: As redundant as the saying goes, it likely is going to boil down to the shooter. As a society, robbers are an abomination and a lesser race...and most would consider putting a shooter turned robber out of its misery a mercy. There are some sections of Basut's cult that views shooters turned robber as a blessing and a tool for their God's plans...but they are often in the minority. That said, obviously the lone shooter faced with the robber version of their former loved one may have a harder time feeling a mercy kill is the best option. There are some shooters who do embrace their former loved ones and family even in robber form...but they are likely to be viewed as oddities and face some prejudice. And the robber will probably always be viewed with suspicion and prejudice. With the recent robber issues and Queenie becoming an actual race leader and declaring the robbers an actual race...this suspicion has only grown in the shooter society.
✦ Question: Is there sexism within shooter society, especially the military, or are shooters more progressive in that regard than the actual Victorian era? (Do same-sex arranged marriages exist, or are they purely heteronormative, are there more men than women in the military, etc.)
Answer: Yes and no.The thing is, the shooter population is way smaller than that of the other stardragon races and their birthrate is far smaller. So in a sense there is a sexism in effect regarding women in the military. But not because of their lack of skill or because they are considered weaker but because men are essentially more expendable in terms of casualties. This is moreso in upper-class families, where as lower class families both men and women tend to enlist in equal amounts due to the financial benefits and how it can act as a way to rise the social and status ladders. There is pre-arranged marriages, though these also tend to exist more in the upper class societies of shooter culture where the marriages are done more for status and money and heirs. So same-sex arranged marriages very rarely happen unless its a complete power grab. Middle class and lower class shooters tend to not have arranged marriages. TL:DR: At a basic level there is an equal amount of male/female shooters. But the higher in class you go, the more likely it will be difficult for noblewomen to enlist. There are a few women in the military, and many have risen to high ranks. It is more a case of what the economic status of the shooter is that dictates the level of sexism they likely will experience.
✦ Question: At what age do shooters join the military, and do the military shooters get any time off?
Answer: there is usually a cadet enlistment around 16 for those who want a head start where as 18 is the military age of joining. Those who enlist usually only do one tour of duty (ranging between 2-4 years) before deciding if they want to continue their military lives or go back to civilian life. There are some holiday or time off breaks during a tour of service so yes they get time off.
✦ Question: Can SD make enchanted weapons if so , can shooters be able to use those magical weapons?
Answer: It varies on the nature of the enchantment. For many enchanted weapons, they are powered by the stardragons innate magic which they then channel into the weapon. Hence why a fair amount of shooter weaponry is modified to use magical gems as a battery source in place of their own magical lack. A shooter that has magic would be able to harness those weapons powers no problem... though a regular shooter would lack the magical ability to activate it. There are however some weapons that were designed to be powered up with magic in reserve thus only requiring the user to trigger an activation for it. These devices would simply need to be recharged at various points. Those would be usable by those with or without magic.
✦ Question: Do Shooters just summon their weapon when they need it?
Answer: Shooters would need a stardragon's-gem to power the summoning. Shooters with magic can do it without a gem. However, the main thing is that there's a lot of interpretation for how folks want to flavor it. We've seen some folks who have described it as the shooter attuning themselves to the weapon and then using gems they keep on hand to power the summoning of the weapon to them. We've seen some folks describe it as they attune the weapon to the gem in particular and so when they hold the gem in their hand it manifests the weapon attuned to the gem into their hand. And we've seen people treat it as the weapon itself has the gem inside it and the starshooter has trained themselves to be able to summon it. All are very neat and IMO valid enough ways to describe it. Folks are free to get creative.
✦ Question: Are there gem battery sizes for shooters? how do carved gems fit into that?
Answer: Many of the devices shooters use are designed to factor in different gem sizes/shapes. There are some specific tools or devices that may require specific stardragon gems but many of the things built keep in mind that stardragon gems will come in different shapes and sizes. Gems can also be broken down if need be- but gems that are carved don't play much of a problem to this process.
✦ Question: If a shooter was in the military, do they keep the weapon they used during their service?
Answer: At the end of their service, the shooter is given the option to purchase their equipment.
✦ Question: Would shooters ever use basuts blood and hyths tears together to create like a weapon in a chemical weapon in war?
Answer: Not intentionally. With how valuable Basut's Blood is to shooters it would be considered a major waste turning it into a chemical weapon. Especially since most shooter attacks have the goal of capture and gem harvesting, the acid is fairly volatile and unstable which makes it a poor choice for an offensive weapon.
✦ Question: Do shooters have any use for hyths tears or do they just jack the price up on the mineral whenever they come across it? Or do they destroy so other dragons cant use it?
Answer: Its a novelty for some shooters who have a pet they adore enough to want to repair any damage, but other than patching up eargems for aesthetic purposes they have no particular use for it. So its an expensive mineral mostly because of its rarity and value to others. So all about that moneeeeeey.
✦ Question: What's the punishment for murder in The Capitol?
Answer: Shooter killing slaves are handled like destruction of property. This is resolved via compensation for monetary loss and replacement? Which involves the purchasing of a new slave (Of the injured parties choosing), and any training costs required. Shooters killing shooters is handled via trial, which admittedly if you have enough money/contacts you may be able to slide your way out of. Slave killing shooter is pretty much a death sentence for the slave unless that slave is really adored by a very rich and powerful shooter who can pay for the buy off. There are some exceptions and oddities. Like a slave who is a bodyguard to a shooter who kills another shooter defending their master would be treated more as property where as the shooter would go to trial to gauge if it was self defense. Though in many instances of that, most shooters are more than willing to simply claim they told their slave to fight non lethally and let it be disposed of.
✦ Question: What kind of parades are in the shooter city if there are any?
Answer: Military parades are fairly popular. Celebrations of great battles and conquests. We wouldn't put it past Theo (Or a past Overlord) to have set up a parade and day to celebrate the Overlord.
✦ Question: Do shooter weapons have any magical properties like producing fire or other effects that magic can produce?
Answer: Regardless of what the StarDragon in life would have cast, their life gem is basically an untapped mana well that's used to power a tool. Think... a light saber. But now you can shape them to look like a scythe, or a rifle, or a mace- or whatever is the preferred weapon of choice.
✦ Question: What is the maximum number of gems that can be attached to a Shooter's weapon before it is to dangerous to hold or won't even work
Answer: The main thing to do is consider gems as batteries for a device. Most weapons are designed for a single gem because it makes for convenient replacement once the gem's power is used one has to swap it out with a new one. While technically one could try to make a weapon with multiple gems ...for the most part it would just be considered a waste of resources because the power increase wouldn't really be worth the cost.
✦ Question: Have any tribe of saber shooters aligned themselves with Domino, the Shooter Leader?
Answer: Domino has had no personal hand in anything, but Domino's grandmother has. Sabers have held rank in the Shooter's military before and even now
✦ Question: Do saber shooters reproduce with non saber shooters or other stardragon species?
Answer: Yes. Other Shooters might see them as primitive, but... some people might have A Type. And that type might be someone who is way taller than you, buff, and able to break your spine. For the other StarDragons, Sabers have the same opinions on the matter as the rest of the Shooters. And like the other Shooters, despite the views of being superior, some might still sleep with the others despite them being lesser for a variety of reasons. Kinks exist in the StarDragon world. Can be for the Kink™.
✦ Question: Do star shooters try and capture there larger saber cousins for gladiator fights or to learn what made them into nature's perfect killing machine?
Answer: The Sabers would likely willingly go along with it, sometimes setting up contracts even, and the more 'domestic cat' city Shooters would offer to buy their services for the coliseum. As for learning what made Sabers as they are, the city Shooters already realize why... and that's because the Sabers are out in nature at all times, hunting and fighting. If one spends generations without the use of tech making their lives easier, they tend to be more sturdier.
✦ Question: About how tall are full grown saber shooters?
Answer: About 6'5". Of course people are allowed to make their Saber Shooters taller or shorter, this is just the average.
✦ Question:Do shooter eyes (rare trait) have eyelids, pupils etc. Like real functional eyes or are they more like false eye gems (dashers, weavers?)
Answer:They are real eyes, and have functional eyelids, yes!

✦ Question: Do sweepers have different stingers besides the scorpion tail look? Like are there sweepers with a poison barb like a platypus? Are there Sweepers with like a dragonfly looking stinger? Or a wasp even?
Answer: You're free to create new stingers for a Sweeper's tail! However stingers located on different areas of their body... At this time, no! But that is a very good idea for subtype Sweepers and we'll keep that in mind for future traits.
✦ Question: How much sweeper poison does a stardragon need to be injected with before it’s lethal?
Answer: Default-wise, the sweeper venom is nonlethal (Mostly used to paralyze, not kill) and it isn't like they have an endless supply in that tail. But if people wish to modify it so it's more potent or lethal or an aphrodisiac or a highly addictive drug then knock yourselves out.
✦ Question: Are the collars of sweepers also sought after by shooters? the hip feathers?
Answer: Depending on the shooter they range from "leave no part of the SD wasted" to "all we care about are the gems the rest can rot" so in some circles yeah. There's actually a few Shooters in the community that make clothing from the hides of other StarDragons.
✦ Question: Can Sweepers with Dragonfly ponchos (the one where is goes between the arm and side) glide?
Answer: It depends on the weight of the Sweeper versus how big the poncho is. It may be risky as well, and could just tear since they're not full body winglets like a sugarglider or bat.
✦ Question: Do sweepers lose feathers as they get older?
Answer: They can! We have rpers who like the idea of sweepers molting their feathers or having their feathers thin as they get older or based on their health. (Looking at you Milan you plucked chicken wannabe) It's not only sweepers, as other species with fur and hair could also have it thin with age much like in real life. But also if someone really doesn't want to have their SD endure male pattern baldness, they can just opt to give them thick lustrous hair and plumage well into old age.
✦ Question: Do sweepers drink poison for fun?
Answer: Sweepers, mostly the young and foolhardy, could drink it not so much for 'fun', but to prove themselves in some way, pushing their venom/poison resistance to show off just how well they can handle it. While they're immune to the venom they produce, and have better resistance to venoms/poisons than most StarDragons, they're not impervious, so if they push it too far, they'd start feeling the effects.
✦ Question: At what age do male sweepers start producing their venom?
Answer: When puberty sets in. This follows the same as humans, so between 12 to 14. Like humans, sometimes that can be earlier, sometimes that can be later. A young Sweeper's venom isn't as potent, and generally reaches peak potency around 18 to 21.
✦ Question: Are sweepers covered in feathers instead of fur?
Answer: If that is what you would like, sure! Some people want them covered in downy feathers, others prefer fur. It's owner preference.
✦ Question: What decides (genetically) whether a sweeper has a poison tail or a penguin tail?
Answer: I'll admit that none of us are on the up and up with genetics and isn't one we can answer so we'll leave it up to buyer's preference.
✦ Question: Can sweepers with the penguin tail have long tail plumes on the end?
Answer: As long as it follows the traits for the Sweepers! the penguin tail is free to have plumed, frilled, or fringed.
✦ Question: The sweeper's tail gem is a dud or does it serves a purpose ? considering some have thm and others dont.
Answer: The sweepers tail-gem is a unique gem in that it is an optional gem (in that some have them/some dont). But the gem functions as a life gem for those sweepers who do have it. Those who do not have a tail gem do not suffer a loss of power, those who have it do not have an extra boost of power. As such, it can be harvested like any life gem. And can be a dud like any gem a multigemmed stardragon can have.
✦ Question: How prevalent are poison weapons outside of the Sweeper's natural venom?
Answer: Poison laced weapons are definitely a thing that isn't solely a Sweeper taken idea. There's numerous venomous animals and poisonous plants within the world of Jo'Arca that anyone can weaponize in one way or another. Poisons tend to be very popular with sweepers due to their natural tolerance against poison substances, but many dasher societies employ poison tipped arrows and many robbers in the swamps are quite fond of alchemy.
✦ Question: Could a Sweeper with the dragonfly ‘wings’ have their ‘wings covered in feathers?
Answer: Given the draw of the trait is the bug like quality, and it's the legendary trait that is the feathery wings, albeit from the back, they cannot!

✦ Question: For StarWeaver's Kitsunebi/Will o' Wisps, do they have a specific color, and do they have to be flames?
Answer: No! There's no specific color, and while they don't have to remain flames, we would prefer they stay 'wisp like'. So no orbs floating around.
✦ Question: What happens to a Weaver's tail when they swim or bathe or are otherwise In Water... especially Mistmanes.
Answer: While they're still "there" the tails tend to disappear or become just the faintest of outlines in the water. This mileage may vary depending on the type of tail and how dark and opaque it is to begin with. A mistmane's tail may appear completely vanished while some plume tails may retain a silhouette.
✦ Question: Is is possible for a weaver to never growing their horns to a full size? or not grow horns at all? do they have any important function?
Answer: There are a few SDs that had their horns removed. And a few whose horns are stunted and nubbier than average. But even then they tend to grow at least somewhat and with the typical shape attempt. (Like a fisher may have a smaller than average horn, but its still obviously fisher.) But for the most part SD horns don't seem to have any special or important function other than aesthetic and a convenient place to hold one's bracelets. I'd note that getting one's horns removed is somewhat a painful process though. Like closer to the base there is still nerves and stuff down there so it's not really a simple hack and chop. Enjoy your bloody stumps.
✦ Question: Kitsune weavers have no mouth (at least standard design wise). Could one say they use something like telepathy to communicate? In addition: how do they feed?!
Answer: If you want. Or if someone wants to go horrible nightmare fuel where the mouth forms and goes across their entire face that is likely an option too. Feel free to be creative.
✦ Question: For scaled Starweavers, do they shed or molt? Is the shedded skin also iridescent?
Answer: If the owners of scaled stardragons want their SDs to shed or molt, by all means. If they'd prefer them to not, that is fair too. There's no hard and fast rule regarding scales. Also yes, the scales would be iridescent if the owner so chooses.
✦ Question: When paint-tailed weavers are children, are they’re tails constantly on? Does the ink always get everywhere? Can said ink stain fur forever or does it wash out?
Answer: The tails are always 'on'. However, they're not dripping, so unless the paint-tailed Weavers are rubbing their tail on something, there won't be a problem. Unfortunately, children will be children so enjoy your destroyed everything. Fortunately, the ink isn't permanent, and it will fade on its own rather than needing to be washed out. As the paint-tailed Weaver grows, they could learn how to make the ink remain permanent.
✦ Question: How hard are scaled weaver’s scales? Are they used as body armor or just for show?
Answer: Mostly for show. Would not recommend getting into a fight with only the scales if you can wear some actual armor.
✦ Question: Are weaver tails tangible? Can one wave their hands through a weaver tail? Or is there a 'core' to the tail that is actually physical?
Answer: This has been one of those things we try to leave up to individual preference because it also sometimes boils down to artistic preference. Some people have preferred thinking of the tails as intangible similar to how mist-manes are done but more condensed...others like the idea of them being able to retain a sort of tangible effect because they like the idea of their other stardragons resting on the tail like a pillow. We generally give people wiggle room with the reasoning it will vary from weaver to weaver. Some may just have naturally more condensed tails to allow them more tangibility while others it is completely pass through-able. (Thats a word now.)
✦ Question: If someone had a fan, could they blow away a mistmane weaver's tail?
Answer: It might sway with the wind, be it a fan, natural wind- storm or otherwise, but it wouldn't disburse and be gone forever.
✦ Question: For Weaver's weather condition tails, can they actually produce rain?
Answer:Yes.
✦ Question: Can paint tail weavers change their ink color, or is it always black?
Answer: Yes, they can be different colors.
✦ Question: If we go with Weaver tails being cloud like or ethereal, could someone capture portions of the tail in say a jar? If so does the tail start to look like it is missing portions if parts are taken away like that or does the tail regenerate?
Answer: No. The "cloud" would vanish from the jar once it's separated from the tail, and the tail would regenerate. It's a mysterious phenomenon. A common saying that's come from weaver's inexplicable tail magic is "fickle as a weavers tail".
✦ Question: Have there always ever ONLY been 12 Weaver royal houses? Have some risen to power or ever fallen from it?
Answer: Since the assembly of the weaver nation, there have been 12 royal houses. However, there have been times where a house has fallen or a family line wiped out. In these instances a new family is risen up to become the new royal family. This selection process is done in the same way that a new emperor/empress is selected when one passes away, in that the temple monks in the Shrine of the Seven Souls research and divine which family from the list of options should take up the mantle of royalty. Due to the traditions, there has never been more than 12 royal families at any given time.
✦ Question: What temperature is a Weaver's tail?
Answer: More often times than not, Weaver tails are cool to the touch. However, some Weaver's tails may be hot to the touch, like steam from a hot spring. Finding a Weaver with a room temperature tail isn't unheard of but fewer and far between.

✦ Question: Are some species more "feral" than others? Like I know fishers are prone to cannibalism. And shooters hunt the other races for fun. So how do the others measure up to docile To most hostile?
Answer: From docile to hostile; Eater Crafter Weaver Dasher Sweeper Fisher Shooter. Special note that Robbers are kind of a grab bag because they are either REALLY hostile or they tend to reflect whatever race they came from. Obviously some exceptions will occur. You can certainly find a docile shooter and you can definitely find a hostile Crafter.
✦ Question: Do we have a map of cultural backgrounds? Such as a Chinese inspired Shooter, or English inspired Shooter- where you they be located? Or are the species more like a monoculture?
Answer:So we do actually have lists of real world cultural backgrounds that we use as inspiration and jumping off points For different stardragon cultures, however we try to keep that net pretty wide, because what fun is it making a fantasy world where most of the cultures are just copy pasted from our world? That being said, these are mostly OUR jumping off headcanons, and seeing what users come up with for their headcanons has been really cool. If anything, coming up with your own subcultures for your Shooters or fishers actually helps us flesh out a more diverse world in the long run. I know there are some specific location attributed cultural headcanons that we have, like the northern sweeper tribes taking inspiration from both arctic inuit cultures and saudi arabic desert cultures, and the island of Fairlie, a fairly calm and quiet Shooter controlled island, being similar to a british countryside or holland flower fields. We have our own thoughts that will roll out Eventually™ but for the most part we like to keep this open to interpretation, both to not to restrict creativity and to encourage 'yes these could all coexist, making a wildly diverse and large planet'. In fact, I highly encourage people to bring their cultures into different stardragon tribes and races, because there is obviously only so much we can bring from the table culturally. We just encourage people to tread lightly and take some care in observing the line between celebration and appropriation. Our advice for that is cast a wide net, because again, you're crafting something new! I know I try to grab inspiration for the weavers not only from asian cultures, but from eastern and northern european as well. Can I get a hell yeah for viking weavers?

✦ Question: Are there eclipses regularly or are they rare as they are for us?
Answer: Since Jo'Arca has three moons, eclipses tend to happen more regularly. Yvonne's moon in particular has fairly regular eclipses that many stardragons base festivals around. Where as Lenus' moon is the most rare of the three to have an eclipse. However the rarest eclipse tends to be when two or all three moons line up which usually only happens once in a lifetime.
✦ Question: What is level of sentience or intelligence that SD fauna can have?
Answer: Jo'Arca is mainly about the stardragons, and so didn't want there to be fauna or animals that kind of detract from their spotlight. So while you can have animals that are fairly clever...at the end of the day they're probably on par with what you expect from animals of our world.
✦ Question: How much is a loaf of bread. Is there a slang term for the currency or is it just I need 25 squares?
Answer: In some locations it could be trade or barter, in other areas it may be some a half dozen shards. Different locations may have different slang but we can safely say we have no plans as admins to come at someone saying "you overpriced a loaf of bread" even if someone wanted to charge 40 squares for it. That is an area we're more than happy to just let fans speculate. Lest we end up with the D&D issue of oars being a lucrative business.
✦ Question: Can we make up vampire/werewolf based supernatural inspired lore where it's like a magic curse or sickness (similar to severblight), where some durgs will have a thirst for blood, or something like werewolfism, but instead of turning into a werewolf, maybe they turn into feral-versions or something like that on helgin's haunt, or?
Answer: If people want to make folklore or things that bump in the night that superstitious locals tell people to beware of in the woods, that's certainly a doable thing. But, they are likely to just be that: superstitions and legends and not something that can actually-exist lore wise (at least at this time. This may admittedly change in the future! Who knows!) That said, the concepts are good, so we highly encourage people to do such things in personal rps or AUs. Like we have cryptid things in Helgin's Haunt lore so there is nothing stopping people from stardragons believing in vampires or weredragons. It's just you cannot actually make one.
That being said, someone could use magic to change themselves into a wolf (Or a StarDragon world's version of a wolf) and go terrorizing a town if you want.

✦ Question: about Gelidis: It has that massive glacier, is that area in a sort of ice age and thus retaining the huge amount of ice or is it more like a generalized colder area in general? There's not a lot of polar formations present aside from the glacial area there so it made me curious.
✦ Answer: It's more of a generally artic area! Though I hadn't considered a more ice agey region. It might actually be fun to mess with *U* But it might be too close to the forest just south of it, which is more of a boreal forest and less of a frozen tundra. Perhaps the regions to the north of it are trapped in a sort of ice age where the axis of the planet prevents it from getting enough heat to thaw. HMMMMM (source)
✦ Additional Follow up Question Haha, well there were plenty of forests in the ice age but yeah it's good to know the distinction between a place being cold and REALLY cold, it really helps solidify the setting :3
I think you mean the thermal vents right? The ones that spew out super boiling volcanic water and methane and all that stuff? A 'vent forest' under the seas would be a really cool idea, nothing could really live down there of course except for the worms and stuff but to just imagine this like huge mass of colossal vents filling the water above with a cloud of death water would be hella fun to explore. Could even provide a safe zone near the bottom since the heat is focused above. (source)
✦ Additional Follow up Answer How cold? HELLA cold. And yes yes yes!!! That's it! God I completely blanked and no matter what stupid things I typed into google it couldn't get it either. But oh MAN that would be really awesome *O* I'll have to paint some atmospheric stuff for that! With bioluminescence all around *U*
✦ Question: about the Hellsgate, is that a giant hole in the ocean? Where does it lead to? Or is it more like a magical thing similar to the Maelstrom in Warcraft?
✦ Answer: Hellsgate is actually a deep ocean trench situated on a diverging fault line, so it's as if the bottom of the ocean split open to reveal the molten magma underneath (which spews up and cools, and there's plenty of underwater .... dang it I cant for the life of me remember what they're called. Those hot spring underwater things with all the tube worms and deep ocean critters.) There may definitely be some magical properties to it! But you'd have to ask the creatures who live there, and they're pretty frickin scary so I wouldn't suggest it. (source)

✦ Question: Can I make X type of Stardragon, Can I add X Trait, Can I add them to other worlds? (basically any kind of question where you are asking , can i do this thing with my Stardragon)

Within the confines of this group-- please do not do anything illegal, do not steal characters or designs from others and be respectful of others around you and other CS/ OS groups.
