So we've had many asking if they can draw their StarDragon one way or another, some preferring more furry varieties, while others preferring more human to this Diet Furry Lite species, and the answer is yes.
You're more than free to make them more or less furry. The muzzle shown here is the sort of muzzle we're going with for the StarDragons, and we ask if you're going the More Furry ™ route that you stick with this muzzle! Art by inkmaven

Kitsunebi have no specific color, and while they don't have to remain flames, we would prefer they stay 'wisp like'. So no orbs floating around, but here's a few examples
An idea Rumiiya had. This would still make the gems and eyes the same color, just the light reflects differently. Like quartz for example.
So the issue with making subspecies and having made our rarity traits 3+ years ago is we kinda run into the issue of, 'How does one tell something that isn't a rarity trait, from something that is'.... sorry about that >:B;;
Anyway, flared ears aren't actually flared because of fur. It's the ears themselves that are "cut up" like that. So the arctic Shooter subspecies- they have fluffy ears. Their ears aren't "cut up" (Unless you get that uncommon in which case go for it), they just fluffy. Art by caariosamu
What even are male Eater horns and how do you draw them? Hopefully this helps your hand cramps and long nights spent trying to figure out the mystery by Inkmaven
There were questions in regards to Shooter tail lengths, and amputation for Shooter tails. The worry about making Shooter tails too short, or amputating the tails off would mean them losing a pretty important part of their silhouette, so DeletetheStars drew a handy dandy little reference for their tails. Author's Note: This was one of the first StarDasher Design Guides. Over the years many things changed, so please don't feel obligated to follow anything here as with any other info sheet, the species is open and you can do as you please. Stardashers, like the rest of the stardragon family, all have life gems, which are brimming with huge amounts of energy/magic which the starshooters hunt them for. If a stardragons' life gem is destroyed or stolen, they will die. Likewise, when a stardragon dies, their gems fade as the magic fades from them.
Stardashers have some major gender differences, but they are very much equal to each other, since they both have very big weaknesses and have to work to protect one another. Male stardashers only have one true life gem, the rest being psuedo gems that contain no magic but are meant to throw off predators. Female stardashers, however, have multiple life gems, which their magic/life force is spread between equally. This makes them one of the only stardragons that can survive when a life gem is stolen or destroyed. However, they're essentially losing a chunk of their life/soul whatever when this happens. So they become weaker, and in many cases, less sane.
Male dashers have a floating gem held above their head by very powerful magic. It's near impossible to separate it from their body, and takes an immense amount of skillfully wielded magic to do so, but if it happens, the dasher becomes listless, sedate, and even obedient and zombie like until the gem is returned. If the gem is destroyed, regardless of where it is, they will die.
Dashers are a very social race, preferring the company of others and banding together in tribes. They're governed usually by a council of elders, or a chief, who can be either male or female. Many of them seclude themselves in forested areas to hide from shooters, and take shelter in tree houses. Forest dwelling dashers usually have smaller hooves. There are some tribes that are nomadic and dwell in deserts. These dashers usually have the stocker hooves (as to not sink into the sand) but there's not a lot of places to hide in the desert, so they move often.
They're much less technologically advanced than Starshooters, but they're still fairly intelligent. Much of what they wear/use is hand made either by themselves or someone in their tribe. Guide by Raptorslut
Dashers love beads, trinkers and jewelry, most of it is handmade.
Most of them like collecting flowers (ꈍ ꒳ ꈍ✿)
Long horselike tails.
Their tails are actually short if cut/shaved
[Depiction of Legs] Dantier deerlike hooves. Stockier horselike hooves.
[Depiction of Hooves] Two-toed hooves, Low nubby toesies, dew claws.
Fuzzy fur on calves and elbows
Four eyes or Two eyes, two gembrows. (both equally common)
Ears; Longer fuzzy fur inner ear, shorter finer fur outer ear. Ears range in length. Average ears lightly longer than shoulder length, and shorter slightly perkier/and fatter. Longer ears labelled 'less common'
Horns are generally angled back and up, can be smooth or curved.
Dashers mostly live hidden away in forests. Like their name suggests, they're skilled at running away from predators. They can fight back, Weapons are generally hand-made, spears, swords and many of them are skilled archers.
Clothing optional; depictions of "Desert-Tribe Servicable" "Forest-Tribe Decorative" and "Modern Summer"
Gems Key
[Red] Life gems, contain life force/magic highly sought after by Starshooter
[Cyan] Peusdo fems contain no magic meant to throw off predators.
Stardragons all have lifegems containing their magic/lifeforce
Shooters will still steal psuedo gems to be broken up and used as currency/ make jewelry (jerks.)
Males true life gem floats above their head between their horns. However, just because it's floating doesn't mean it's removable. It takes powerful magic to steal this gem.
Born without horns, Males are born with gem but must protect it until their magic is strong enough for it to stay suspended (3-10 weeks). Tail Fur also grows later.
[Author's note: althought not explicitly stated females were shown to have a large pseudo gem in their hair or tail hair and their life gems were scattered oon their body (brow, ribs, thighs) versus one large floating]

Starcrafters, like the rest of the stardragon family, all have life gems, which are brimming with huge amounts of energy/magic which the starshooters hunt them for. If a stardragons' life gem is destroyed or stolen, they will die. Likewise, when a stardragon dies, their gems fade as the magic fades from them.
However! Crafters practice various forms of body modification, the most dangerous of which being gem cutting. Since if a stardragons' life gem is cracked or damaged irreparably they will become weak until they eventually die. Starcrafters just don't give a shit because yo look my gem is a kickass star haha suck it.
Crafters are generally shorter than most stardragons. They spend a lot of time underground in warmer climates but they do venture above ground. As their name implies they're a very creative race, using the materials they find underground to craft and engineer various things ranging from jewelry to weapons to mine carts to whirly gigs
They LOVE shiny things, and will barter with them as a form of currency. The shinier the better.
Starcrafter culture is largely goofy and laid back, they have a good time playing pranks on each other, but will band together to protect each other in a heart beat. They live in close knit bartering communities trading shiny things and tools and other crafted goods. Most of them live on Dragons's Back island and trade many of their goods out of No Man's Cove to the starweaver pirates.
Female; 2 Sets of Horns
Female; Smaller, mousier ears
Gem Flower; 'Flowers' are crafted from stones and gems.
Male; Set of 3 horns
Male; Longer, droopier ears.
Eyes have huge pupils to see well in dark caves, they narrow into slits in light.
Stumpy feetsies, rough paws.
Chitonous spines down leg, covered in fur.
Spines down back and tail.
Bodies are covered in bits of rock called shale which acts as protective armour.
Shale can cover carying sections of the body.
Tails have two gems
Crafters practice a dangerous form of body modification; Gem Cutting. They can cut the gems into shapes without harming the life gem.
They actually perform gem cutting and horn carving for other stardragons (for a price, of course)
Crafters use their dense gems to break through solid rocks and their horns are used to pierce through softer rock and magma crust.
Crafters spend most of their time digging for natural gems and precious ore.
They live mostly underground in warmer climates, warm as in lava flow. They can actually touch lava without being harmed.
In fact, some crafters enjoy 'the taste' of magma. It's not exactly nutritious but the heat is tasty. (However culturally, it's seen as kindof weird. Like eating a stick of butter or drinking soy sauce.)
