Base - A drawing tool, made by one artist for other artists. Usually requires some skill in art to use, may be usable to sell adopts or not, based on TOS

Blept - A deer like creature created for use in the species world. They have a variety of traits and are completely free to use and make.
Chimera - Chimera are the combination of more than one Stardragon race, resulting in a child with mixed traits. Chimera do not have “Common-Rare” traits, as it’s difficult to say what is common, uncommon, and rare.
Note: Sometimes the words chimera and hybrid were used interchangably, but to simplify things, we've defined each of these words to mean a specific thing.
Closed Species - A term used to describe the concept of a fictional species, usually made by an artist or group of artists, that is not open for public use. Usually this means that acquiring a character from this species will require a MYO (make your own) Slot or to purchase an Adoptable.
Common - A term used to describe the lowest rarity tier of Stardragon, specifically when referring to 'Stardragon MYOs'
Crafter - A lizard like species of Stardragon, also called a Starcrafter, typically characterized by multiple upwards point horns on their head, patches of shale on their bodies, stompy feet, spikes and two gems on the end of their tails. Gems match the eyecolour.
Dragon - We all know what a dragon is, anyone in the community saying 'dragon' is usually referencing a stardragon unless otherwise stated.
Dasher - A deer like species of Stardragon, also called a Stardasher, typically characterized by antlers with a large floating gem, secondary set of eyes/ false eye gems, and gems along their sides-- they are the only Stardragon species with hooves. Gems match eyecolour.
Eater - A teddy-goat like species of Stardragon, also called a Stareater, the original of the 8 species, typically characterized by curled horns on the side or top of their head, large hands and feet and a gem in the center of their chest. Gems match the eyecolour.
Farter - This is a Joke Species (tm) also called Starfarters-- that was drawn up once upon a time, named for it's... unusual tail? Minors avert thine eyes. Imagery Here.
Fisher - An aquatic species of Stardragon, also called a Starfisher, typically characterized by a single horn on the forehead, webbed frog-like feet, fins or tendrils on the body and gems on the head (like mock eyes) and on the hips. Gems match the eyecolour.
FurAffinity - One of the websites that was used to grow the community, and still used today as well.
GemExchange - The original name chosen for the Stardragons community group. Also called TheGemExchange.
Gems - Gems in the Stardragon community refer to the lifegems that all Stardragons have. Some have one single gem, while others have multiple, these gems are unifying across all of the species.
Horns - Although Weavers and Dashers have 'horns' more akin to antlers, All Stardragons have horns. Starshooters have horns only occassionally within the Legendary category
Hybrids - Hybrids are the combination of a Stardragon race with non Stardragon races. Only one (1) hybrid Stardragon was ever known to be released officially by the mod team. Hybrids do not have “Common-Rare” traits, as it’s difficult to say what is common, uncommon, and rare.
Note: Sometimes the words chimera and hybrid were used interchangably, but to simplify things, we've defined each of these words to mean a specific thing.
-
Jo'Arca - The original planet that Stardragons were based in in the lore. The planet provides context and a sandbox of people to play in with their characters, but is not required.
-
Leviathan - A type of Starfisher, characterized by its massive size and frightening visage.

Robber - An undead type of Stardragon, these range from vampire like beauties to actual bog monsters. Also called Starrobbers, they are characterized by a hollow chest, which sometimes holds their dead lifegem, clawed feet, tails with blades at the end, horns that curl around the ears and a miriad of unusual body traits that would be impossible for the living. Gems match eyes.
Sweeper - A bird like species of Stardragon, also called a Starsweeper. Characterized by raptor feet, feathery plumage on their arms, legs, faces and tails, and a stinger tail tip or brush like tail. They have gems on the tops of their hands and on their forheads. Gems match the eyes.
Shooter - A vaguely cat sometimes vaguely dog-like species of Stardragon also called a Starshooter. These dragons are characterized by cat pawed feet, elbow points, large gems that sit in the ears, long tails with plates along them and gems that float around the tip. This species is known for it's inability to use magic unless in rare instances. They are the only species in which the gems do not need to match the eyes.
Subspecies - Subtype variations of the standard StarDragon. As humans vary from location to location, so do StarDragons. StarDragons can have traits from multiple different subtypes WITHIN THEIR SPECIES to show mixed heritage or just to mix and match your favorite traits. Subspecies can have uncommon, rare, and/or legendary traits. Traits are not locked to subtypes.
Note: Subtype and Subspecies are words often used interchangably within the Stardragon community/ lore.
Tailplates - On Starshooters, their long tails have between 4 and 8 long (and sometimes short) sheets of shaped glass, these are sortof akin to a kaiju's tailspikes, or perhaps a stegosaurus visually. They are typically made of gem or glass but aren't a lifegem. They are usually depicted as rigid like glass or with a little more give and bend like a stiff plastic.
Traits - In Stardragon terms this refers to the components that make up a Stardragon. And there are various sections dedicated to each Species for this specific term. Trait Compendium has all of the trait general information.

-
Weaver - A papillion dog or fox type of Stardragon, also called Starweavers, they are characterized by their scoop shaped horns, large forehead 'third eye' gem, a floaty cloud-like tail with floating gem and mixed coat lengths (typically shorter on the extremities). The gem must match the eyes.
