Deir ez-Zor
Overview
In Deir ez-Zor there are 33 informal settlements hosting approximately 30,000 individuals. The majority of sites are informal settlements including Maqbara informal settlement which hosts nearly 9,500 individuals.
The majority of last-resort sites opened in 2017 however, of sites still open, there have been informal settlements/collective centres in the governorate since at least 2014.
Areas of origin
Based on REACH light profiling data, the first reported governorate of origin in informal settlements and collective centes is Deir ez-Zor.
At a sub-district level, Deir ez-Zor sub-district in Deir ez-Zor governorate is the most commonly reported area of origin followed by Khasham sub-district.
Populations in last-resort sites have been displaced due to both internal civil conflict and by ISIS campaigns.
