Areesha Camp

Areesha camp is located in Hasakeh governorate, Areesha sub-district and hosts approximately 13,500 individuals (2,700 households). The camp originally opened in 2017 with populations primarily displaced from Deir ez-Zor governorate during the campaigns against ISIS. The camp also hosts IDPs displaced from the following conflict escalation during Operaton Peace Spring in October 2019. 

The camp, which is on the edge of Areesha lake, flooded in November 2019. This led to the relocation of the site population to a new expansion area south of the road.

The camp has a static NGO Camp Management presence and a Camp Administration.
