The Department of Electrical Department organized an event to observe "Samvidhan Hatya Diwas" (Emergency Remembrance Day) to commemorate the imposition of Emergency in India on June 25, 1975. The event aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the importance of safeguarding democratic values enshrined in the Constitution and reflect on the lessons learned from that dark chapter in India's history.
The observance of "Samvidhan Hatya Diwas" served as an educational reminder of the importance of democracy and constitutional governance. The event successfully raised awareness about the risks of authoritarianism and reinforced the commitment of the department towards upholding democratic principles.

One-Week STTP on “Health & Quality Assessment of Electrical Equipment and Installations”
The Electrical Engineering Department of Dr. S & S.S. Ghandhy College of Engineering & Technology, Surat, successfully organized a one-week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Health & Quality Assessment of Electrical Equipment and Installations” from 9th to 13th June 2025. The program was approved by the Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE), Gandhinagar and sponsored by the Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST).
A total of 22 faculty members from Electrical Engineering and Power Electronics departments across various Diploma and Degree engineering institutes of Gujarat actively participated in the event. The STTP featured sessions by eminent speakers from SVNIT Surat, L.D. College of Engineering Ahmedabad, IITRAM, and industry experts, covering vital topics on condition monitoring and electrical maintenance techniques.
A local industrial visit was organized on the third day at Happy Engineering, Udhna, Surat—a division involved in manufacturing energy-efficient induction motors.
The inaugural function included Maa Saraswati Vandana, Diya lighting, and welcome addresses by Principal Mrs. B.H. Goyal, STTP Convener Mr. J.S. Doshi (HOD, Electrical), and Chief Guest Mr. Hetal Mehta, President of SETU and Chairman of Happy Engineering.
On the concluding day, oral and written feedback was collected from participants, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Coordinator Mr. S.U. Dalwani. Certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees.
The event was a great success, providing valuable insights and knowledge-sharing opportunities for faculty members across the state.
One Week STTP on “Applications of Power Electronics in Power Systems”
The Electrical Engineering Department of Dr. S. & S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering & Technology, Surat, successfully organized a One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Applications of Power Electronics in Power Systems” from 19th June to 23rd June 2023. The program was approved by ISTE, New Delhi and CTE, Gandhinagar.
A total of 26 faculty members from 14 different Government and Self-Financed, Diploma and Degree Engineering Institutes across Gujarat participated in the training. The STTP aimed to enhance the knowledge and teaching skills of faculty members in the emerging field of power electronics and its integration with modern power systems.
One Week STTP on “Electrical Vehicles & Its Advances”
The Electrical Engineering Department and Automobile Engineering Department of Dr. S. & S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering & Technology, Surat jointly organized a One Week Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “Electrical Vehicles & Its Advances” from 19th February to 23rd February 2024. The program was approved by CTE, Gandhinagar and partially sponsored by the Alumni Association.
A total of 33 faculty members from various Diploma and Degree engineering institutes across Gujarat participated in the program. Participants represented disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automobile Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
The STTP aimed to provide comprehensive insights into the latest developments in electric vehicle technology and its integration across engineering domains.
