Buddha images from this period had square shaped face. Their lips were thick, they had a heavy brow, and a square chin. They often wore a headdress (crown or hat), which was cone shaped. They wore large, beautiful necklaces and armbands, and their earlobes hung low with the weight of large earrings. There were two popular postures in this period: standing with hand gestures, and seated with the seven headed naga behind.
