In case of emergency, the Park Ranger should be contacted. The emergency phone number for the Ranger is in the greenhouse. Look in the large white binder to the left of the point of sale cabinet at the bottom of the first page.

In case of injury, please complete an Incident Report (see Forms).

Bathroom ? There are men's and women's restrooms in the pumphouse. If the pumphouse is locked, there is a "Restroom" key in the greenhouse above the sink. There are also restrooms in Central Park, by the playground adjacent to El Camino Real and another by the entrance to underground parking on 5th Ave.

Expense reimbursement? Complete an expense reimbursement form (see Forms). Note that some expenses must be pre-authorized (see below).

Do I need Board approval to do something? Substantive changes to the SMAS property or gardens must be approved by the Board (see SMAS Change Proposal form). Recurring purchases for supplies (e.g., soil, vermiculite, paper, ink, etc.) do not require approval. Out-of-the-ordinary purchases or a relatively small amount require approval from the President. Large purchases require prior authorization from the Board.

Is there a process for Lost-and-Found items? Not currently.

Is the arboretum tap water safe to drink? It is well water from the park. It is periodically tested by the City and is safe to drink. (Need to verify)

Can I drive into Central Park to the arboretum? Only for some purposes as described here.

Can I get a permit so I can park more than two hours on the street while volunteering? The City provides SMAS a limited number of parking permits. Contact a board member for availability.

Can I get a key to the arboretum? The City restricts the number of keys available to SMAS. Contact a board member for availability.
