Driving into Central Park

The City of San Mateo allows SMAS volunteers and their suppliers to drive into Central Park. It is only allowed for drop-off or pick-up of materials. To comply with City requirements, follow these steps when driving into the park.

1. Obtain permission from the SMAS President. If not available, inform another Board member or volunteer coordinator. Ask for the current gate key code if you don't know it.

2. In advance of entry, notify the SMAS liasons for the City of San Mateo (see Directors and Coordinators) of the date, time and purpose of entry and provide a vehicle description (email is fine).

3. Enter the park through the gate on Fifth Ave. The keypad for the gate is on the right wall as you face the gate.

4. Within the park, drive no faster than three miles per hour and with flashers on. If possible, have a partner walk ahead of the vehicle as an escort.
