Aircraft hand tools are very indispensable for inspection, maintenance, repair of aircraft structure and its system complexity therefore as an Aircraft Technician and personnel working on aircraft, we must be familiar with tooling used in the aviation industry and its correct uses and care. When we are working with any tools used in aircraft we should always observe safety as of our primary consideration.
Combination Wrench
A double-ended tool with one end being like an open-end wrench and the other end being like a box-end wrench or ring spanner. Both ends generally fit the same size of bolt.
Ring Ratchet
Ring ratchet is a type of ring spanner or box wrench, whose one section ratchets.Ratcheting can be reversed by flipping over the wrench or by activating a reversing lever on the wrench.
Adjustable wrench
An adjustable wrench is a tool, which can be used to loosen or tighten a nut or bolt. It has a "jaw" (the part where the nut or bolt fits) which is of adjustable size.
Socket- Shallow
The shallow socket design allows access to fasteners in tight spaces.
Socket-Deep
Deep sockets are useful for turning nuts onto bolts when the bolt extends upwards into the socket, such as clamp bolts.
Universal Joint Socket
Universal Joint Sockets, are used with a ratchet or other socket driver to drive sockets at an angle. This is often very useful in applications with confined or awkward spaces.
Ratchet
A ratchet is a device that allows continuous rotary motion in only one direction while preventing motion in the opposite direction. Ratchets are widely used in a/c maintenance.
Extension
A ratchet extension is a fitted bar that allows you to extend the reach of a socket when using a ratchet.
Screwdriver- Common
A screwdriver is a tool, used for installing and removing screws. A simple screwdriver has a handle and a shaft, ending in a tip the user puts into the screw head before turning the handle.
Screwdriver- Phillips
A Phillips screwdriver has a head with pointed edges in the shape of a cross, which fit neatly into the cross slots of a Phillips screw. Use only a Phillips screwdriver for Phillips screws.
Stubby Screwdriver
Stubby screwdrivers are mainly used to reach into tight areas to adjust fasteners if regular screwdrivers are somehow obstructed .
Offset Screwdriver
A screwdriver with the blade at right angles to the shaft for use where a straight screwdriver cannot reach the screw head.
Speed Handle
A speed handle which includes a ratchet drive on the working end, is especially useful in areas where there is very little room for operating a conventional wrench.
Pliers-Common/Flat
Common pliers are used for holding, turning and cutting tasks.
Nose Plier
Nose plier are used for gripping, bending, and cutting small-gauge wire. They can reach into tight places that are inaccessible to other types of pliers.
Long-Reach Nose Plier
Long-reach nose plier are useful for reaching into small areas where cables or other materials have become stuck or unreachable with fingers or other means.
Monkey Plier
A monkey wrench is a widely used tool that can be used to hold any number of materials in place.
Diagonal Cutting Pliers (Cutter)
Diagonal Cutting Pliers are used for cutting wire and small pins in areas that cannot be reached by larger cutting tools.
Ball Peen Hammer
A ball-peen also known as a machinist's hammer, is used in metalworking. It has two heads, one flat and the other rounded.
Mallet
A mallet is a hammer used to strike an object without damaging it. They are typically lightweight and made from solid wood, rubber, or leather.
Allen Key/Wrench
Allen wrench or Allen key, is a simple tool used to drive bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets in their heads.
Allen Socket Key
Allen socket key, is a tool used with ratchet to drive bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets in their heads.
T-Handle Allen Key
T- handle allen key is a very handy tool to work on far difficult to reach bolt where in people often use long arm of allen keys with a pipe.Provide adequate torque during tightening bolts/screws.
Expander
An expander is used to increase drive size.
Reducer
A reducer is used to decrease drive size.
Wire Twister
Wire Twister is used for twisting metal wires.
Feeler Gauge
A feeler gauge is a tool used to measure gap widths/clearance between two parts.
Scale
Scale is used for measurement purpose.
Crowfoot
A crowfoot wrench fits onto the side of the nut or bolt rather than over the top like a socket. This allows the crowfoot wrench to work in areas where there is insufficient space above the bolt to fit the socket.
