Abstract: The speaker will introduce the medical devices that are utilized for therapeutic benefits of some of the major heart diseases. The discussion will start with high level information of the major heart diseases, symptoms and how these are typically diagnosed. The different medical devices will be discussed with some details to expose the audience to the basics of the different types of devices, share what is involved in developing a medical device, testing them before those are clinically tested in humans and the approval pathway in the different countries around the world.
Bio: Sarfaraz Taher is an Electronics and Communication Engineer by training from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. He then completed his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. His career started with roles in Bharat Electronics Limited in Hyderabad. He has since worked for Wipro and Bombardier Transportation. Since 2003, he is working for Boston Scientific and is currently responsible for the design and execution of Clinical Trials for the Electrophysiology products being developed at Boston Scientific. He is the current president of the Assam Foundation of North America. Mr. Taher hails from Guwahati.
