SKC Science & Technology Webinar
From Precise Navigation and Art towards Space Exploration
Date/Time: Saturday, April 9, 2022, 5:00pm Indian Standard Time
Speaker: Priyanka Das Rajkakati, Art and Business Development Advisor, The Exploration Company, France
Recording at: https://youtu.be/ZcxdQFvOvbo
Abstract: The first objective of this talk is to give a general introduction to the principles of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) positioning ( GPS being an example)- how does your phone or receiver detect the signals from GNSS satellites and determine your position? Moving on, we delve into what is time-delay-Doppler-phase estimation in the context of GNSS, and how to characterize the performance of this estimation problem using Cramér-Rao bounds.
The second objective is to take a step away from technical science, and dive into the importance of art, culture and diversity towards sustainable and responsible space exploration.
Bio: Priyanka Das Rajkakati is Aerospace engineer and artist, with a particular fascination for lunar exploration. She obtained B.Sc. in Physics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, India.
