Science Olympiad
Division B
Division B
Hello! This is a Division B website meant for Science Olympiad, particularly VASO, the Science Olympiad Program in Virginia. You may use these resources to start off on your events, and below are some resources that can be used for all of your events. If any item is listed as a resource that must be purchased, you may purchase it on your own, but the likelihood is that SHMS already owns it and can provide it for you (especially calculators, binders, field guides, and weights). Ask politely to receive your valuable items!
This website contains basic links for each event - thorough research depends on solely you, the competitor. I cannot emphasize enough that this website can only guide you to do well, but you will only do well if you put your mind to it and make Science Olympiad a priority. This website has a lot of pages, but it sorts out the rules so that you aren't left scrolling in an 80 page document. This website holds no responsibility for giving you unreliable kits, it is simply not my fault. Overall, the goal is for this website to be a good starting point. The below links will not be mentioned again (at least not very often) for the sake of redundancy, so please check them out.
Although this may not be considered trustworthy, there have been tests modeled off of Wikipedia. Highly suggested for binder events such as Rocks and Minerals and Forestry.
Scioly.org is a great source! It contains test exchanges, forums, and wikis for all of the events. It also contains tips on how to organize a binder, or annotate a field guide. I highly suggest joining their amazing discord server, the link to which can be found on their website on the "chat" button. It is a great place to ask questions and meet people that will be able to help you throughout your Science Olympiad experience.
Please look at the rule clarifications on this website! They will help you greatly in the long run as sometimes they change things, such as the format for design logs. Sometimes they may remove design logs all together, so if you don't want to waste your time on an event, check this at least once a month, if not every week. They contain other things as well, such as general rules and such. Make sure to sign up for their updates!
The national website dedicated for Science Olympiad! Contains a place to purchase kits mentioned throughout this website, and also contains the rules and some clarifications. Make sure to sign up for their updates!
Science Olympiad's official instagram provides updates on various events and tips on notes. It is especially useful for knowing when some special events happen, like Tech Tuesdays. It gives helpful event previews and study tips.
