In this event, your goal is to build a vehicle that is solely powered by elastic potential energy. The goal is to have your vehicle travel a certain amount of distance in a certain amount of time to get the best score. It will help to have knowledge regarding physics for this event. Details are in the rules, and anything that is different from last year is bolded. Kits are linked below! If you try hunting for other kits, keep in mind that Ward's Science kits tend to be overpriced. It is highly recommended for this event, however, to build your own vehicle from scratch. Balsa is not recommended.
The vehicle must be impounded in it's lowest potential energy state. This means that it is fully unwound. Â Practice logs need to be impounded with the vehicle for bonus points. Spare parts and non-electronic supplies are allowed and do not need to be impounded. Type B eye protection is required (check Lab Events Resources page, linked below). Each team may also bring a stand-alone calculator of any type to the event. Helpful links are below!
