(WIDI)
This event is similar to the game telephone, as in you start with a product and attempt to replicate it to the best of your abilities. One partner will be the writer, and the other one will be the doer. The writer will have a build placed in front of them, and they must write instructions on how to build it for their partner, the doer, who will follow those instructions. The goal is for the doer to end up with a build that is the one that the writer sees, or as close to it as possible. Practice is the only thing that will save you in this event, but there are some techniques that will help make writing more concise and easy for the builder to understand directions.
Technique 1 - The Clock Technique: You can refer to build as a clock from a bird's eye view. This especially works if he base of the build is circular. Basically, just imagine the numbers on an analog clock on the build. 9 o'clock would refer to left and 3 o'clock would refer to right. This typically only works with the hour hand, although you could technically say 45 minutes to refer to left and 15 minutes to refer to right. Although less common, it would allow you to be more specific.
Technique 2 - The Compass Technique: Basically the clock technique, but using directions that compasses use, such as North, South, East, and West.
Technique 3 - The Basic Technique: Literally just what you would normally say. Left, right, top, bottom, etcetera. However, this technique can be confusing because top could refer to away from you, or on top of a build, which is why this is not recommended. However, if you could work out a code between yourselves about what top, up, away from you, etc. means, then this might work out.
