This is Virginia's regional version of Science Olympiad's official event, Experimental Design. This event revolves around the same principles, but is very different. Rather than creating and conducting an experiment, the team must formulate an experiment, write it up, and then answer questions on data analysis. This event still allows a team of up to 3, but rather than a restricted calculator, the team can bring one stand-alone calculator of any type and one 8.5 in x 11 in sheet of paper that may contain information of any type from any source. It may be put in a sheet protector/ be laminated, but it may not have annotations or labels affixed on it. Highest score wins. Practice is key to this event.Â
