Road Scholar is an event all about maps. Teams must know how read maps and create them. This year, the focus is on Topographic Maps, Highway Maps, and Internet Maps or Satellite Photos. Helpful links are below, but they may not cover everything in the rules so other resources are strongly recommended.
Each team may bring 2 stand-alone, non-programmable, non-graphing calculators, protractors, rulers, other measuring devices, a writing utensil, USGS Map symbol sheets (pre- and post- 2010), hand lenses/magnifying glasses, and hard copies of any information from any source in any form along with colored marking devices consistent with those used for topographic maps. All the supplies may be stored in a container. Helpful links are below, and anything not listed can be borrowed from your coach. Topographic map marking devices generally mean coloring utensils to color code the map.
