Stephen Hawking's Stark Warning for Humans to Leave Earth, SmithsonianChannel, April 10, 2018
"Physicist Stephen Hawking issued a warning to humanity about the existential threats we face and how our survival depends on colonizing another planet."
"Professor Stephen Hawking and other scientists believe that to secure the future of the human species, we must colonize another planet."
"We now know that there is a planet around our stellar next door neighbor that could be suitable for colonization. Welcome to Proxima B. It's a little more massive than the Earth and it's almost certainly a rocky planet. And there might just be liquid water at the surface. Proxima B might be our best destination for mankind's new home. But although it's our nearest planet, Proxima B is still a very long way away. Getting there, even with the fastest rockets we have today, would take thousands of years."
Stephen Hawking: "I have no doubt that we will eventually find ways of crossing the immense distances of space in just a few years."
My Comments
It appears Stephen Hawking is saying humans will find a way to traverse interstellar space faster than the speed of light, or in some other not yet to be discovered way.
If a non-physicist made the same statement it would be laughed at.
What are the reasons underlying Stephen Hawking's claim of being able to travel in the future light-year distances in just a few years?
Elon Musk Shares Plan for ‘Multiplanetary’ Life, Building 1,000 Starships in 10 Years, The Science Times, April 16, 2021
"The fascination of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for Mars, according to recent reports, is well-documented . For the first time, he spoke about wanting a 'multiplanetary' life on the Red Planet."
"1,000 Starships in 10 Years"
"On top of what Musk mentioned about wanting life to be 'multi-planetary,' SpaceX also hoped to construct 1,000 Starships in 10 years. These are the reusable spaceships being developed by the South Texas-based company."
"Musk opened up about how he divided his riches between his plans for Earth and Mars. He also tweeted that about 50 percent of his money is intended to address problems on Earth, and a half to support the establishment of a self-sustaining city on Mars. "
My Comments
Elon Musk passionately believes there is an imperative for humans to become multiplanetary. If a disaster occurs such as a large solar flare, an asteroid impact, or a world war using weapons of mass destruction, humans would survive on the backup planet. Elon Musk's preference for a backup planet is Mars.
How about 'boring' a mile deep city in Earth, why Mars? When humans walk the surface of Mars they will probably start digging into the soil.
If SpaceX can launch 1,000 Starships in 10 years think what ETs could accomplish in a larger time frame such as millions or billions of years.
As a conjecture, ETs may agree with Musk's logic and that's why UFOs visit Earth. The ETs are looking for protection against their habitat undergoing a cataclysmic incident. Their solution is to become multiplanetary ETs.
