Study Overview

SIS30115 Certificate III in Sport and Recreation is a two-year course that provides students with the opportunity to develop and enhance their confidence and instructional leadership skills to work in the areas of sport and outdoor recreation. Specialist skills such as coaching, facilitating groups and hazard identification are developed through a mixture of theory based activities and practical experiences to complement their learning. Workplace skills such as time management, organisation, decision making and problem solving are also investigated throughout the program. Students also complete a range of practical assessments and exercises, such as activities in Mt. Buller, Marysville and Anglesea beach, amongst other venues to facilitate practical activities and assessments.


This course is well suited to those interested in pursuing a career in sport, coaching, or fitness, as well as those who enjoy physical activity and participating in sports. Students who successfully complete the Units 1 to 4 sequence of this course will gain a nationally recognised qualification as well as units contributing to their VCE or VCE VM  program.
