Mathematics

Mathematical ideas have evolved throughout thousands of years and are constantly developing. Mathematics is an essential course. Studying Mathematics will help you develop skills that are easily transferable to various careers and pathways. It also provides a range of skills which can be applied to everyday life, such as problem solving, financial mathematics, interpretation of statistics and design. Mathematics is also composed of many interrelated and interdependent concepts and structures that can be applied in many other subjects such as Science, Humanities, Business studies, Health and Physical Education and English.

Mathematics will also provide preparation for studies in VCE Foundation Mathematics, VCE Further Mathematics, VCE Mathematical Methods and VCE Specialist Mathematics.

Note: Enrolment in VCE Mathematical Methods and VCE Specialist Mathematics subjects is dependent on grades and teacher recommendations in Year 10 Maths for Methods.
