Politics

Study Overview

Studying VCE Politics considers the question of what power is and how it is used by governments, in the Australian and international contexts and the limits to governmental power. Students will learn how different values influence government policy and goals. They will also examine how various global actors (Multi-national Corporations, Non Government Organisations, terrorist groups and institutions of global governance such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund and World Bank) impact upon national governments. Students will explore how governments attempt to solve various global crises, such as war, poverty and environmental problems and evaluate to what extent these are capable of being resolved successfully with the means governments have available to them.
