VCE VET Certificate III Events
Study Overview
SIT30516 Certificate III in Events enables students to develop skills and acquire an understanding of the everyday tasks undertaken by workers in events management. It aims to provide knowledge and skills to achieve competencies which will provide entry level skills within the events and hospitality workforce, so that students can make a more informed choice regarding career pathways. Throughout the course students will learn how to communicate event ideas, gather information, plan and organise activities, work in teams and solve problems. In the first year students will develop and promote a special themed event. The second year will focus on larger events with skill development in team building, working with clients, and event coordination.
Other key areas such as customer service, event destinations, event registration and coordination are covered throughout the course. Students who successfully complete the Units 1 to 4 sequence of this course will gain a nationally recognised qualification as well as units contributing to their VCE or VCE VM program.
Year 1:
Students will be required to demonstrate their competency in the following units:
Work effectively with others
Source and use information on the events industry
Provide event production support
Provide service to customers
Participate in safe work practices
Show social and cultural sensitive
Year 2:
Students will be required to demonstrate their competency in the following units:
Administer event registrations
Create a promotional display or stand
Use business software applications
Design and produce business documents
Develop basic staging skills
Participate in sustainable work practices

Assessment
The student’s performance on each outcome is assessed using one or more of the following:
written assessment
practical assessments
portfolio tasks
oral presentation
observational reports
simulated workplace activities
Prerequisites / Suggested Prior Studies
No prerequisites are required for VCE/VET Events.
Suggested prior studies include:
Event catering & barista (9/10 Elective)
Food styling and marketing (9/10 Elective)
