Physical Education

Study Overview

VCE Physical Education explores the complex interrelationships between anatomical, biomechanical, physiological and skill acquisition principles to understand the skills of producing and refining movement. This study also examines behavioural, psychological, environmental and sociocultural influences on performance and participation in physical activity.

Students participate in a range of theoretical based classes and practical activities that examine the core concepts that underpin movement, along with analysing the influences on performance and participation in physical activity, sport and exercise. Key concepts explored throughout the course include energy systems, physical activity trends, barriers to participation and developing training programs to produce chronic adaptations within the body systems. Through integrated physical, written, oral and digital learning experiences, students apply theoretical concepts and reflect critically on factors that affect all levels of performance and participation in sport, exercise and physical activity. This subject will also assist students in their participation in their own sporting and physical activity pursuits.
