“How can I help my student be successful in band this year?”

Whether or not you have any knowledge of music, you are an integral part of our band family! Band offers you an opportunity to see and hear how your student is progressing in a way outside of tests and grades. In addition to attending concerts, you can help by the following:

1.)  Encourage your student to play their instrument at home.

2.)  Help your child keep track of their home practice habits.

3.)  Have them perform for you or other family members.

4.)  Ask them to explain what they are learning in class.

§  (You might pick up some knowledge in the process and your student will be gaining an even better understanding on what your student has been working.)

5.)  Check the SCMS Bands Website (Student Music Resource) for any Band information.

This website is accessible to students only. They will need to log in with their password to see all information.

6.) Check Schoology.

Just being there is the best thing you can do. If you would like to get more involved, consider volunteering!  We would love to have you!
