Chlorination: This method was a method used before electric water purifiers came into place. By adding a certain amount of chlorine to the water helps in killing all germs and bacteria making it safe for consumption. The addition of 5% is considered safe but when chlorine is added in a higher amount it might add bad odour to the water.

Distillation: In this process, water is heated and collected as vapor which is passed into a condenser to reverse it as water. This method is effective in eliminating contaminants but it also does eliminate minerals.
