How to stay healthy and fit as you get older?
What’s scarier than ageing each day and worrying about staying healthy? Following a routine of a few healthy habits might help us fight or at least delay the factors which appear as we age. Giving importance to a healthy and balanced diet- Now it’s our time to focus on what we eat. Make sure the usage of refined sugar, processed foods, and refined grains are under control. Because the digestive system would slow down as we age, and the above mentioned are not easily digestible. Agreed that one cannot avoid them altogether, but we can reduce their usage daily; eventually, we can subdue the carvings of our body. Concentrate on more greens, vegetables, fruits, and fibres. Keeping yourself hydrated would help you as well.
Getting enough sleep- Sleep is the second important factor one should focus on. Lack of sleep regularly might increase the risk of slower recovery of any healthy living we long for. Sleeping for 6 to 7 hours a day is necessary regardless of our age. Lack of sleep will increase our weight, which would again throw other physical and mental trauma on us.
Move the body- Exercise and walking would help us keep ourselves active. Forget all those hardcore exercises, which might end up in unnecessary injuries and move to something light exercises. Walking for 30 to 50 minutes every day is recommended. It would help us get some fresh air and calm ourselves on a hectic day.
Laugh your bellies out- Laughter is the best medicine. Connect with family and friends very often to communicate and to have a good laughter session. Isn’t that cool to reduce our stress by spending time with the people we love?
Visit your doctor regularly- Visit a doctor to make sure blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight are under control. If you wear glasses, check your eye power once a year. Visit your dentist every six months. Remind yourself to renew your health insurance in India.
