Checking engine oil pressure is not an easy task. But if you do it right you don’t need to tow the car to your mechanic. Let us first understand what engine oil pressure is and further discuss how to check them. As for the oil pressure test, car insurance is important.
Oil pressure is the main reason for internal combustion engines to work properly. The heart of the car- "Engine", runs properly only with the help of oil. The oil is pumped out through oil pumps to all bearings and other parts of the engine.
Maintaining the oil pressure right is important because;
● High oil pressure: Indicates blocked oil filter, oil gallery, or the wrong level of oil
● Low oil pressure: Indicates broken oil pump or worn bearing
The ideal oil pressure for cars is 25 to 65 PSI. This may vary according to your car’s brand. Check the manual to know the ideal pressure for your car. Here are the tips to follow to check car engine oil pressure.
Before you start the process wear mechanical gloves, a long-sleeve shirt, and eye protection to save your hand and from dirt.
● Open the front end of your car for better visual
● Check your car manual or guide and location of the engine pressure oil sender on the engine block
● Place an oil drain pan below the sender to collect the oil spillage
● Now remove the electrical connector first and then slowly remove the oil sender with your torque wrench
● The oil pressure kit will have instructions for use. Read them carefully, and place the tester
● Check the level of oil and refill if required
● Start the car and idle it for 5 minutes
● Check the car’s manual to find the right RPM for the oil pressure test and maintain the RPM while idling
● Note down the oil pressure readings and remove the oil tester
● Reinstall the oil sender and then the electrical connector
