A rubric is a grading tool that helps instructors to communicate learning expectations on the performance or quality of student work. The criteria in the rubric allow instructors to grade students' work more objectively and fairly.
This week I developed analytical rubrics directly in Canvas for assignment 5 and discussion 2. The PDF versions of the rubrics are also attached below.

✔️ Formulate your SMART goals.
Instruction of assignment and guidelines for submission
Assignment #5: Set SMART goals
All assignments in this course led to increased work performance and employee satisfaction in the organization. In module #3, you assemble mid-term SMART goals.
First, take the course section called SMART Goals in module #3. When you are prompted for assignment #3, follow the procedure in the course or below.
There are 3 ways (PDF/Word/Canva templates) to access the SMART Goals worksheet from the link in the course. The content is the same. Choose one that fits best for you.
Once you have copied/downloaded the worksheet, write the SMART details for 2-3 goals on each page. You will create a statement that combines all SMART at the bottom of the page.
After you complete the pages, please upload your SMART Goals worksheet from your local folder to Canvas by the due date specified in the syllabus.
Notes:
The audience is the people closely related to your goals (family, team members, mentors, etc.)
If you copied the Canva template and worked on the Canva site, download the file once to your local folder, then upload it.
The accepted file formats and their limits are doc, docx, pdf (up to 200 MB), jpg, jpeg, and png (up to 10 MB).
The assignment submissions let you earn points by the rubric. The submitted files will not be shared within the organization without your consent and it has no influence on your work performance.
Description
Discussion 2 takes place at the end of Module #2. Learners are prompted to participate in the online discussion on Padlet embedded in Canvas.
Learning Objetives from the IDD
✔️ Distinguish your strengths.
Discussion prompt
Welcome: Reminder of how to comment and post on Padlet
Check-in: This is the second place where learners meet each other. If you would like to, share how you are progressing/struggling/enjoying module #2 so far.
Get Ready: This discussion board intends to help learners find common ground among peers, share what you have learned so far about your strengths, and get perspectives from other’s angles. Have Your Strength worksheet handy.
Discussion 1: Among the strengths you discovered, which of those do you think leverage your career for the coming 3-5 years?
Discussion 2: In what two ways can you start using the strength more intentionally today? What immediate change will it bring to you?
Discussion 3: How do your strengths help you be successful that you defined on your own term?
Participation requirements
Submit your post to the Discussion sections in 20-100 words. After you submitted your post and review peers' posts, add 2-3 comments for peers. Reflect on what you find common, different, or giving you a new perspective.
The course invites learners from a wide variety of different backgrounds. As you participate in the discussion, all learners are expected to:
Contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive online learning environment that is conducive to learning and showing respect and dignity to other persons and to property.
Be familiar with and abide by course policies listed on the syllabus.
Maintain comments free from all forms of bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
Ask questions when they do not understand.
Seek help in solving problems that might lead to a deeper level of learning.
I focused on rubric criteria directly bringing evidence to the learning objectives. If the knowledge could be assessed by behaviorism-based content or true or false questions, I could have written more detailed criteria and descriptors. However, considering the nature of the course with exploration and reflective activities, I set up basic structural criteria and kept the descriptors rather simple to encourage original answers from learners.
For future projects, I'm in search of qualitative criteria to capture creative thinking, critical thinking, and participation with the DEI lens.
In addition to the above two, there are 4 other assignments and a summative self-assessment in the course. I created rubrics for each and attached them to the sections in Canvas.
