E-Waste Drive II- Jan 2021

Pandemic had delayed our plans to conduct the next e-waste drive, but not our spirits. Our vigour and passion was much more as we sought to reach out to more people and a larger audience.

'E-Waste had to be disposed of responsibly' was our Mantra. After a tremendous response from our last e-waste drive, which focused on collecting e-waste in our neighbourhood, we were more than glad to have more people to dispose e-waste with us, this time.

Our focus on e-waste was primarily to ensure that the various metals and chemicals used in items like batteries and cells etc., do not pollute the land. Also most of the components of e-waste can be recycled.

Thus started our research to find an apt recycler - one who shared the same commitment as us - to save our Mother Earth from the toxins. Thus we partnered with a GCC empanelled recyclers, World Scrap Recycling Pvt. Ltd, based out to Thirupathi.

In this drive we collected 1.24 tonnes of e-waste. People are all around the neighbourhood came in to give e-waste. It was heartening to see that many people held on to the e-waste during the pandemic and disposed of them with us.

Post-event, the ROKA team were invited by the World Scrap Recycling company for a tour of their plant and a glance of their processes. It was an enlightening and gladening experience to know that each and every component of e-waste is carefully scrutinized and reprocessed / recycled efficiently.
