The Traffic Principles are a set of four competencies that every Road Traffic Officer is expected to constantly demonstrate in the execution of their duties. They provide clear expectations for how every Road Traffic Officer can maintain high standards and play a significant part in the recruitment of Road Traffic Officers. They are shown below:
Each of the Traffic Principles have a unique meaning and are all crucial when working in roads policing.Â
The officer demonstrates a good understanding of traffic law as prescribed under Section 12 of the Paralake Penal Code and how it is applied within fair and robust policing.
The officer utilizes their training to deploy recognised RTU tactics, where possible, and maintain safe, effective and lawful pursuit of vehicles.
The officer demonstrates a good understanding of what equipment they have access to and its safe & effective usage.
The officer communicates effectively with their colleagues and members of the public when executing their duties.
