Pit Crew

Requirements to Conduct

Pit Crew is a competitive Road Traffic Operations (RTO) event designed to test officer efficiency, teamwork, communication, and operational effectiveness under timed conditions.

Teams of three (3) officers compete to earn the highest number of points through successful traffic-related enforcement actions and operational tasks.

The team with the highest score at the conclusion of the event will be declared the winner.

Team Composition

Each team must consist of:

• 3 RTO-qualified officers

• One designated Team Lead

• All members must be in approved RTO uniform and vehicles

• Teams must remain active for the full duration unless authorised otherwise by event command

• A single agreed-upon team name which will be used for tracking purposes through the logs

Event Duration

• Standard event duration: 60 minutes (can be up to 24 hours)

• The timer begins on the exact time and date set out in the operation announcement.

• The timer ends on the exact time and date set out in the announcement.

• Please note that points cannot be claimed after the event ends.

Objective

• Teams are tasked with completing as many traffic-related tasks as possible, and each one earns the team a different number of points.

• Teams earn more points for teamwork and tactical items than routine traffic related tasks.

• Whichever team has the most points at the end wins a cash prize.

Scoring System

Points are awarded based on three categories and are compounded based on complexity.

For example, a suspect believed to be wanted for a bank robbery fails to stop, speeds and recklessly drives. You pursue them, and upon a successful three-person box, you arrest them and impound their vehicle. 

For this scenario, you would receive 75 points for:

• Five points for speeding violation.

• Ten points for failure to stop.

• Ten points for the reckless driving.

• Twenty points for the three-person box.

• Ten points for impounding their vehicle.

• Twenty points for the arrest of a wanted suspect.
