Game Art File Deliverables

working files • final files • where to hand in files • file naming convention • steps for work study to bring into InDesign

FILE NAMING CONVENTION:

WAR-C-GeorgeWashington-SB-c.psd

naming convention explained:

WAR = name of project

-C = Character Card

-E= Event Card

-I= Item Card

-George Washington = Type Out the full name

-SB = Artist Initials (On our overall style guide we will need to determine initials that do not repeat each other)

-c = version letter (a, then b, then c etc. do not name anything final)

Final Card Art .psd file hand ins:

  • this is the same layered file that you have been working on from the template 3025 x 4125
      • keep all art layers
      • keep all graphic design layers
      • name all layers
  • File size 3025 x 4125
  • Printable size: 2.5" x 3.5" card for print - but also larger for marketing images.
  • this template file has all the bleeds necessary to go into inDesign
  • template file was given to you at the beginning of the semester and you have used that and renamed the file and rewritten the card title for each card you do.

Working file .jpg hand ins for web and email communication:

  • this is a flat file with the bleeds of the card graphic design
  • this file has all the graphic design layers
  • this file has the title and the description on the card (even if not in final design) (because the workstudy can take that info and put it into the true graphic design layout in InDesign)
  • use the same file naming convention with .jpg at the end

Steps for DLC work study (after card art is handed in):

  • the DLC work study (Becca) will then take the .PSD file > turn the graphic design elements off
      • crop to the bleed of the art layers which bleeds off the edges and under the torn horizontal edges
  • save as a png - no transparency at 3025 pixels wide (height may vary)
  • use the same file naming convention with .png at the end
