Feedback from Dan Miller

Gage:

  • Light infantry can be dropped from the writing

Washington

  • Forced to retreat from NY but turned the tide of battle at Trenton. Kept his army together through the terrible winter at valley forge.
  • Brave leader instead of resilient leader
  • Show him being stoic in expression
  • Give him a tri-corner hat

Murray

  • Spreading economic Freedom? Not sure what that means

Revere

  • Use the phrase "Minute Men"

Graves

  • Add rowboats full of British troops in background

Cornwallis

  • General - led southern invasion, lost the final battle in Yorktown
  • Work on foreshortening

Tarlton

  • Fought against the guerrilla fighter called Swamp Fox

Marion

  • The Swamp Fox
  • Put hair behind him

Jefferson

  • Did not draft the constitution
  • The irony still works for the declaration of independence

North

  • Does he have a baby-ish face ?
  • Add snow outside

Presentation Assessment From Bill

The Art is looking pretty good

  • I can tell that you are all putting a lot of effort and creativity into the illustrations. I like the hats as a differentiate feature thread running through the illustrations.

Is everyone following writing and imaging guidelines?

  • Not everyone seemed to know where to find these

Presentation

  • Holding up a small computer screen is not how we review projects. All students need to have their work on the Drive if they know they will not be able to plugin to the TV.

Productivity

  • Everyone should have had 2 cards finished and another one started. (except Tony).
  • Most students seem to not be working on the writing. Cards are finished when both the writing and art is finished.

Civility

  • Dan Miller commented after the presentation that he was surprised about some of the comments. Here are things that a civil person would not typically not do in a situation like this:
      • Throw their sick teacher under the bus by indicating the class was not so great because they missed some classes.
      • Express that you are not that interested in the project to a professor from another college that has volunteered a lot of his time to the project.
      • Complaining that the Middle Schoolers writing is not very good and acting like it was a burden for you to have to improve it.
      • Disrespect all of the people that worked on the project, including Dan (sitting in front of you), by stating that you had to "fix" their work. And doubling down on that statement when provided an opportunity to walk it back.
