I create with handmade wool and fabrics to make felt. When I start I find myself fascinated by the blur of colors and textures that appear chaotic. Within a very short time water, wool and agitation guide then lessen the chaos to reveal line, shape as the wool as it becomes felt. The tools involved are my hands, which have changed over the years. And I have learned to trust them to create work inspired by what life has taught me. I am constantly experimenting with textures that prove opposite in their nature: Silk in its smoothness combined with the uneven texture of wool. Come together to create a new texture that has qualities of both fibers. Within the completion of a piece I find I enjoy the complications that might arise. I try to see them as challenges that will help in the future. I hope you enjoy my piece.
