Abstract:

So, this year Nobel Prize in Physics went to Pierre Agostini, Anne L'Huillier and Ferenc Kraus, for their work in Attosecond Light Pulses. Sounds interesting, right? But what exactly is that? Where does this field come from? What did they do to deserve such recognition? In this talk I will go through the history, the details, and even the gossip that led up to this year's prize. We will talk about the physics, the experiments, the people, and the past, present and future of the field.
