Articles and Gender

We can use the article 'the' if we can say 'this/these' or 'that/those' instead:

• (The) Love is blind

• It is not true that marriage can fail

It is not possible to omit the article in appositions:

• Madrid, the capital city of Spain, is an amazing city.

• Many people are in need of water, an/the essential resource.

'Most' works as an article, so it cannot be combined with 'the':

• I like the Iberian forests.

• I like most Iberian forests.

• I like most of the Iberian forests.
