University Teacher
I am an architect with over a decade’s experience working at award-winning practices, such as Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Mole Architects, on a range of projects at different scales, including education and cultural sectors. I joined Sheffield School of Architecture in 2022, having previously taught at Manchester School of Architecture.
I currently lead the Year 2 undergraduate and am passionate about helping to facilitate rich and iterative design processes informed by critical and creative enquiry. I also teach Environment and Technology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. My ambition is to fully integrate environmental design principles in all stages of the design studio.
I lead the Management, Practice and Law modules across the MArch programme, where I encourage students to contextualise their design studies within the contemporary challenges currently facing built environment professionals, including the need to address the climate emergency and changing ethical responsibilities to clients as well as the wider public.
I studied architecture at the University of Cambridge and Glasgow School of Art. My research interests include environmental diversity, the role of user psychology and behaviour on perceptions of comfort, and the pedagogy of promoting a holistic view of environmental design, both qualitative and quantitative, fully embedded within architectural design processes.
