Member of the hacktivist cell known as Exa_Gone.
Nathan’s little sister
Deuteragonist of project PYL.
Sheryl is Nathan's little sister by a few months.
Due to her siblinghood with Nathan, they both share the same hair, skin and eye color.
In remembrance of hair accessories she used to wear as a child, Sheryl dyes strands of her hair pink, her favorite color.
She uses fantasy hair ties to hold her ponytail.
Sheryl’s style stands out a lot, influenced heavily by harajuku fashion and Exa_Gone’s punk ideology.
She often paints on her friends’ clothes and belongings, like Nathan’s bike.
Each of her bracelets represents people she holds close to her heart.
Sheryl never leaves her home without her beloved Kimi Mimi goodies and various star-shaped keychains.
Just like Nate, Sheryl carries a bag at all time, sometimes using it as a replacement for JAKE to use Nathan’s as a decoy.
Her father disappeared when she was 8 and Nathan 9.
Born on the 13th february of 2067, a year and four months after NATHAN, Sheryl is the youngest of the Exa_Gone along with SHAWN.
While her memories of Jake and her father, WILLIAM BENDER, are fuzier than her brother’s, Sheryl was deeply affected by their disappearance, making her relationship with their mother and with Nathan all the more fusional. Deeply attached and a sweetheart to most, Sheryl is a tender heart, ready to mend to any broken soul she comes across.
Despite Nathan’s initial plan to hide his escape to the arcade from his family, his sister Sheryl soon found out through following him. Due to her extremely likable character, she was immediately accepted in the friend group and became a cherished member of Exa_Gone.
Aware of her brother’s plans to complete their father‘s work, JAKE, Sheryl continuously covered up for him, allowing Nathan to go on with his double life of a hacker and a student. She became close to Shawn and Chris and the two became their best friends as well as her brother’s.
Driven by the same need for justice regarding William Bender and Jake Teling, Sheryl fully supported Nathan’s decision to get a Drift Port, albeit concerned for his condition with the installment.
Contracted by Data Security to ‘take care’ of Exa_Gone, Andrew, a mysterious agent of the secret squad OPSY, tries at multiple times to get his hands on JAKE and apprehend Nathan.
Warned by Marco himself that he would target Sheryl if he didn’t give in, Nathan became alarmed by his sister’s known involvement. However, Sheryl was determined not to abandon and remained active in Exa_Gone, not wanting to let Marco win again.
Thanks to TANAKA’s sacrifice, Exa_Gone manages to upgrade JAKE’s clearance in the Drift and the hacktivist cell releases Data Security’s hidden informations to the public.
As the rebellion against DS’s supremacy grows, Nathan becomes an icon of justice and becomes OPSY priority. It also means that Sheryl becomes their target to bait him out and she has no choice but to remain in the hideaway‘s safety.
Helping around as best as she could despite her not being a hacker, Sheryl became a symbol of positivity and hope in their rebel den.
As she witnessed her brother’s spiral into obsession, Sheryl became interested in the world of technology, wanting to understand more clearly what her father and her « uncle » were scheming before their disappearance. While she doesn’t entirely grasp the logic of coding and the intricate mathematics behind it, Sheryl is just as avid for answers as Nathan and she is willing to follow her brother through thick and thin to unveil the truth.
As Nathan managed to get JAKE running, Sheryl began to question furthermore the ethics of Data Security’s work and began all the more attached to this relic of their lost past. This relationship shines all the more in comparison to the one Nathan has with JAKE: he is extremly sweet and kind to her, while he tends to tease Nathan more.
“Y’know, I lost my father too that day! Don’t pretend you’re the only one concerned here.”
While Nathan was undergoing surgery, Sheryl was designated leader by association of Exa_Gone. Instantly contacted by Chris regarding the Twins’ arrival, she was the one to green light their stay in the hideout.
Although her decision was frowned upon by most, no one dared question it apart from her brother. This fight was also the opportunity for them to talk about Sheryl’s entwined fate due to Nathan’s decisions and the shared loss of their father.
Despite the tension, Sheryl showed to be an excellent leader just like her sibling.
After Nathan’s and Andrew’s fight against OPSY agents and Marco, successfully damaging their ranks, the Bender siblings took the decision to upload JAKE into the DS servers, rebooting the entire system at the cost of various technical issues across the country.
Though the decision may be frowned upon, this felt like justice for William, Jake and Ahmed and a brand new start for their society.
