ABOUT

Jane, short for January, is a hot-headed redhead Nathan met when he entered university.

Instantly bonding over their common dislike for Data Security during their visit in their class, the two share a passion for mechanics, micro-technology and techno-science.

On first impressions, Jane may seem cold and disinterested, but once her trust is earned, she reveals a more nuanced behavior. She is determined beyond measures and expresses a deep empathy, in her own way.

On the other hand, what she gives in calculation, she lacks when it comes to her pride. Jane is very sensitive when it comes to questioning her decisions and words and will get offended at this.

She often adorns the role of the cool big sister among her friends and is an unbreakable secret holder. She quickly becomes a trusted ally for Nathan and Sheryl, who gladly welcomes the other girl in their group.

Jane is considered the analyser of Exa_Gone, capable of taking rational and calculated decisions even in hard situations, while she demonstrates tenderness and a deep care for her peers when they are in trouble.

Following the mechanical science course at Opportunity University, Jane loves to play around with gadgets, fidgeting with their components, mechanical or digital. She is an unmatched technician and is quick to come up with solutions in urgent moments that require dexterous hands.

Her physical skills come in handy when Jane plays guitar in her off-time, often accompanied with Chris who likes to improvise lyrics along her melodies.

She lives in 47 12587 MegaPlex (Jane), while her little pug Vega remains at her grandmother and father’s place in DISTRICT09.

Born James, Jane transitioned way before she met any of the other members. Only a scar on her throat remains. She also has a long scar on her sternum, signs of a heart surgery she had to undergo in emergency as a child. While she is known as a bright redheaded woman, orange is not her natural hair color, her natural brown showing underneath with her undercut that she religiously attends to. Jane has a cyber inspired tattoo that circles her left forearm in hot pink ink.

BACKGROUND

Childhood

Jane, born James, grew up in the neighbor region of May City and didn’t get to meet the members until university. However, despite a different course, her personal disbelief in the system led her to share the same punk ideology as Exa_Gone and led her on a path of hacking and vandalism.

Cardiac intervention

As Jane neared her 17th birthday, her issues concerning her heart got gradually worse and, thanks to her father’s comfortable position as a journalist, she managed to get a brand new Pharmatek pump running. As a proud sign of her resilience, Jane often exposes her large thorax scar.

Joining Exa_Gone

It wasn’t until her arrival in university that Jane met Nathan, on the fateful Data Security visit day in their class. Sharing a deep distrust towards the company, it was only natural for Jane to join Exa_Gone and become a key element of their rebel cell.

Helping around

As the latest member in Exa_Gone, Jane had less of a stable position at first and would often navigate through the different parts of the cell, from programming, to social interactions, even training with Chris. This period also allowed her to grow bonds with all of them and reinforce the feeling of belonging.

Due to her ties with her father’s work as an investigator, Jane would often be first in line to learn key infos as to the UMF’s leads against them, or angles to attack Data Security’s weaknesses.

Exposing Data Security

Thanks to TANAKA’s sacrifice, Exa_Gone manages to upgrade JAKE’s clearance in the Drift and the hacktivist cell releases Data Security’s hidden informations to the public.

As the rebellion against DS’s supremacy grows, Jane’s ties with her father and the media becomes essential to their activity. She becomes a direct link between the hacktivist cell and the exposition of Data Security’s misdeeds, along with helping relay informations on various sources.

Alliance with the Twins

Following Nathan’s fatal incident against Andrew, the latter initiated an escape plan from the Labs with his twin sister Phoebe. While they were rescued by Exa_Gone members, not all of them welcomed them, resulting in tensions among the group.

However, Jane’s personal feelings regarding the issue at hand is torn between her fondness for Nathan, and her empathy towards the Twins conditions. Not looking for conflict, she remains neutral in their fight, only voicing her opinion to vote in favor of keeping the status quo.

She prefers to focus on the work ahead, helping Matthies with the Drift situation.

Important confession

After Nathan’s and Andrew’s fight against OPSY agents and Marco, all of Exa took the decision to upload JAKE into the DS servers, rebooting the entire system at the cost of various technical issues across the country. In doing so, Jane exposed to her father her involvement all along, taking off the burden from her shoulders of the hidden truth, once and for all.
