MARCO A. KALEO
Data Security's CEO
Data Security's CEO
Marco Anatia Kaleo, most commonly known as MK, is the current grand CEO of the international Data Security group, making him one of the most influencial figures worldwide. His business dominates the system they live in, unbeknownst to most people. He has ties to politicial decisions, military firepower and healthcare influences.
He is a manipulative and calculating man, but has issues when his plans are compromised by a higher force. Marco has no hesitation when it comes to resorting to brute force to get rid of obstacles, and if no one volunteers to do his dirty work, he could resort to getting his own hands on the matter.
Any threats he pronounces is a promise, not a warning.
Remnant of a harelip fix from a young age, a past life.
As the CEO of Data Security, Marco wears a suit specially designed for him to display the company’s logo and colors.
The cut of the outfit exudes sharpness, wealth and elegance.
In his image focused marketing, Marco began to sport a marketing strategic signature red hair streak to match Data Security’s loud vermilion.
Marco has blue eyes that border on grey, with a hint of red reflected from his suit.
He is notoriously known for having an intense cold stare.
Born in the countryside on the edge of MayCity, he stayed relatively under the radar his early life, growing in a well-off family and focusing on his studies in psychology and finance. He began his career as a financial advisor, and made regular use of his various degrees to carefully manipulate his clients and rivals to fall into dutifully crafted schemes and plans, allowing the businessman to rapidly climb the social ladder.
Surprisingly though, it wasn’t until the prime age of 35 that Marco decided to invest in the promising world of digital goods and was recruited through his network into the already established Nexus Collective as CEO assistant to BEN WOLFMANN, the president of the firm.
Having had enough of being in the shades of the older man, Marco began to pull the strings in the background and undertook plans for innovative projects that would work in his favor, should the present CEO retire prematurely or -god forbids- disappear.
With a head filled with dreams and grand ideals, M. Kaleo planted the seeds of cooperations between Nexus Collective and other companies, such as Pharmatek and the UMF (Unionized Military Forces).
Realizing that his schemes were met with little resilience in a environment plagued with conspiracies and treasons, Marco quickly became everyone’s favorite person in the corrupted world of big investors and saw fit that he was on his way to the top. However, his plans were discovered by a few, like WILLIAM BENDER and JAKE TELING, who attempted to shield their work from his ill intentions.
Marco’s plans to remove BEN WOLFMANN from the picture were put into action and the wealth-obsessed advisor turned CEO of what would soon become Data Security. All that was left was to take care of the few who seemed to resist, and cover up his tracks by clearing all of Nexus Collective’s archives in a rework of the entire company.
Marco A. Kaleo (2035)
Now at the top, Marco’s greed for wealth and influence hasn’t seemed to die down, if not fueled further by the lack of obstacles. His grasp extends from politics to military, his previous investments fruitfull in bringing these pillars of their society to his needs. Everyone was quick to let him handle their dirty work, but are now under his command, the shame of their sins heavy as Marco holds the keys to manipulating everything to his desires.
M. Kaleo, to the public eye however, is an entirely different story: a famous icon, known for his charm and charisma, seen as a peak of well-manneurism and idolated by some in the same fashion that movie stars tend to be. His private life is kept tightly secret in the secure fortress of Data Security, crafted by the smartest and most efficient.
The real picture is not as fascinating as it makes it out to seem… Marco, in his unstoppable obsession for the top, is afterall an ageing decades-long bachelor. In his youth, he had had opportunities with the ladies and the men, but he had always seen them as disposable and untrustworthy. He also built a reputation of being emotionally detached, the impression accentuated by his rough exterior, the remnant of a harelip fixed and a chipped ear. In his image focused marketing, he began to sport a strategic signature red hair streak to match Data Security’s loud vermilion; a blatant attempt to renew Nexus Collective’s orange hue.
Marco, in all his glory, now sits at the top of Data Security’s tower and watches as the world runs into the artificial tracks he planted himself. But his nights are plagued with the nagging feeling that the past will come around to bite back… If only he knew how that premonition was.
During his early days BEN WOLFMANN’s assistant, Marco signed an exclusivity program between Nexus Collective and Pharmatek, funding their experiments and in turn running a seat in the chairmen chamber.
It was Marco who insufflated the idea of exploiting Drift to their advantage to create a triforce between the two companies and the UMF (Unionized Military Forces), planning to develop Implants and turn the Drift into a battlefield asset. The three shareholders agreed on a highly secretive contract with extensive NDAs to keep the project in the dark.
Soon after, the Proto-human program was put in motion, initially a massive failure due to inconclusive results and heavy financial loss over the unsustainable subjects. However, two subjects remained, ANDREW and his twin PHOEBE, and the name was changed to the Twins project.
Nexus Collective’s Involvement with the growth of the two fetus became problematic as BEN WOLFMANN repeatedly gave poor instructions, obstructing the development of the project and obnoxiously providing unrequired feedbacks. It was after his perverted request to turn PHOEBE’s fetus gender to a feminine gene that Marco deemed he had crossed the line and got rid of his boss, taking his place in the process.
As Marco reworked the structure of Nexus Collective into Data Security, he proceeded to alter the initial contracts over the project, claiming that the new company required new terms.
Due to his background in finance, Marco started his life as a wealthy businessman from the get go. However, his power and money hungry greed led him to aspire for more. As such, Marco made his way as the CEO assistant of Ben Wolfmann, president of the Nexus Co, a digital goods firm already part of the Big Three with Pharmatek and the UMF.
In a field riddled with corruption and shady deals, Marco began to pull the strings in the back, becoming everyone’s favorite.
However, aware of his shenanigans, some of the Nexus workers attempted to shield their projects from the blonde, like William Bender and Jake Teling.
Despite their resistance, Marco’s rise was unstoppable, annihilating any obstacles. He became the CEO of Nexus and proceeded to cover his tracks by creating a brand new company from the remains of Nexus: Data Security.
Now at the top of the food chain and exploiting his hold over Pharmatek and the UMF, Marco continued to supervise the Twins project he had Wolfmann start during the prime of Nexus. As Data Security’s monopole amplified, the experiments on Andrew and Phoebe multiplied.
As DS’ teams tried to replicate the Drift project, the Twins were both equipped with implants to test out the build, only to realise the incompatibility with Phoebe, who was designated as the future host subject with the UMF.
A little reminder of Wolfmann’s pettiness and the betrayal of Bender and Teling that makes frustration grow in Marco.
Realising the solution to stabilise the Drift build is to get his hands on JAKE, Marco sends Andrew on the field to recover the assistant, along with testing his fresh training as an OPSY agent, only trusting him to get the job done in the UMF.
Growing impatient with Andrew’s failed attempts to recover JAKE, Marco took his sister hostage to pressure him into success. Accelerating the Drift host process makes Phoebe all the more scared of the older man. This event marks the start of his gradually erratic behavior and make his fight against Exa_Gone a personal business.
Despite the collected facade, Marco’s demeanor at Andrew and Phoebe’s escape turned into a psychotic obsession for revenge and bloodshed.
Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Marco completely failed his duties as the CEO and engaged conflict directly with Exa members, joining OPSY himself.
In a violent altercation with Ahmed that cost the latter his life, Marco lost an eye and let himself be augmented with implants.
Overconfident in his newfound capacities, Marco confronted Nathan and Andrew. As he managed to aim at Nate, his spine implant saved him and Andrew took the opportunity to terminate Marco, marking the end of his tyranny.
