Staircase to the Moon is a naturally occurring phenomenon only on the North West coast of Australia, between March and October. Port Hedland is a perfect place to view this, with a purpose-built viewing deck located at the best vantage point in town.
Cape Keraudren Coastal Reserve is 150km north east of Port Hedland. It is a nature-based recreation reserve and is a favourite spot for fishing, crabbing and enjoying a low-key, quite getaway.
Located on the east side of Port Hedland, Pretty Pool is a popular spot for a picnic, beachcombing and having a paddle in the tidal pool. Pretty Pool is also home to a turtle nesting rookery and you can view the turtles at various times throughout the year.
