Text: Bible, Romans 6:3–5
Today we witness not merely a ceremony, but a spiritual milestone. Baptism is heaven’s public declaration that a soul has chosen Christ.
In Romans 6, Paul explains that baptism symbolizes three realities:
Death
Burial
Resurrection
These are not symbolic alone—they represent a spiritual transformation.
Paul says we are “baptized into His death.”
This means:
Death to sin
Death to former habits
Death to self-centered living
When Jesus died on Calvary, He died to sin once. When we accept Him, we choose to die to the dominion of sin.
Baptism does not mean temptation disappears. It means the rule of sin is broken.
A burial signifies finality.
When something is buried:
It is not displayed.
It is not revived.
It is left behind.
Through baptism:
Guilt is buried.
Shame is buried.
The record of sin is covered by Christ’s righteousness.
Heaven does not resurrect what Christ has forgiven.
Paul says we are raised to walk in newness of life.
This is not self-improvement.
It is transformation through the Holy Spirit.
New life includes:
New priorities
New desires
New obedience
Jesus Himself was baptized (Matthew 3:16–17), and the Father declared pleasure in Him. The same joy fills heaven today.
In the Seventh-day Adventist Church, baptism also signifies acceptance of the Everlasting Gospel (Revelation 14:6–12).
It means:
Loyalty to God’s commandments
Faith in Jesus
Preparation for Christ’s soon return
This step is not the end—it is the beginning of discipleship.
To the candidate:
You are not walking into water alone. You are walking into covenant with Christ.
To the congregation:
Will you support this new believer? Will you pray and encourage?
And to those listening:
If God is calling you, do not delay.
“Today, if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.”
Amen.

Text: Romans 6:3–4
Beloved brethren, today is a sacred and joyful occasion. Heaven rejoices, the angels sing, and the church celebrates because a soul has chosen to publicly follow Jesus Christ in baptism.
Baptism is not merely a ceremony. It is a covenant. It is a declaration. It is a burial and a resurrection.
The apostle Paul writes in Romans 6:3–4:
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead… even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
When a person goes down into the water, it symbolizes death — death to the old life of sin.
Just as Jesus died on the cross, the candidate declares:
I die to my former ways.
I die to selfishness.
I die to the dominion of sin.
This is not saying we were perfect before baptism. Rather, it means we have surrendered our will to Christ.
True baptism follows repentance. It is the outward sign of an inward change.
When the candidate rises from the water, it represents resurrection — a new beginning.
Just as Christ rose from the tomb, so the believer rises:
To a new heart
To a new purpose
To a new Master
Baptism does not mean temptation disappears. But it means we now walk with Jesus, empowered by His Spirit.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead now works in the life of the believer.
Baptism is also a public confession:
I belong to Jesus.
I accept His sacrifice.
I enter into fellowship with His church.
It is like a spiritual marriage covenant — a pledge of loyalty to Christ.
Today, this candidate is not only joining a church but becoming part of the body of Christ.
My dear brother/sister, today you are making a sacred vow.
Remember:
The water does not save you — Christ saves you.
The church supports you — but Christ sustains you.
Trials may come — but Christ remains faithful.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Stay in the Word.
Remain prayerful.
Walk humbly.
And to the church — this soul is now our responsibility.
Let us:
Encourage.
Pray.
Mentor.
Walk together in unity.
Baptism is not the end of a journey — it is the beginning of discipleship.
Today, we witness a living testimony that Christ still saves.
What was once dead is now alive.
What was once lost is now found.
What was once bound is now free.
May this baptism remind each of us of our own covenant with the Lord.
Let us rejoice — for heaven rejoices today.
Amen. 💧✝️

Beloved brethren,
Today we witness a sacred moment. Baptism is not merely a ceremony—it is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul tells us that through baptism we are buried with Christ and raised to walk in newness of life. This symbolizes:
Death to sin
Burial of the old life
Resurrection into a new life in Christ
Baptism does not mean we are perfect. It means we have chosen Christ as Lord and Savior.
Jesus Himself was baptized (Matthew 3:13–17), not because He needed repentance, but to set us an example.
Today, this candidate declares:
Faith in Christ
Acceptance of His sacrifice
Commitment to obey God’s commandments
In the Seventh-day Adventist Church, baptism signifies acceptance of the Everlasting Gospel and preparation for Christ’s soon return.
Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will sustain this new believer until the day of Christ.
Amen.
