Origins of Sin Lore

The world of Sincadere is a land ripe with mystery, with many scars of the past buried under ruins of humanity's misfortune. In the current years, the world suffers bouts of sudden magical flux that cause chaotic disharmony, and rifts to other worlds open at random, either allowing entry for those willing travelers or by trapping the unsuspecting. After the large-scale catastrophe over 500 years ago, the first of many magical and nonmagical beings crossed over. These different peoples and creatures have since inhabited the world. To many of the native humans, they are invasive species.

Foreword

Many magical scholars who have dedicated their lives to the collection and preservation of historical knowledge and texts on the magic of Sincadere believe that there is something off about how magic feels in this world. Of these magical scholars, the ones who were born here, and have never left, will tell you that there is nothing inherently strange. During my survey of people outside of our closely-knit scholarly community, I had thought I would perhaps hear different answers, but to my surprise, the conclusions were the same. I spoke with several elves and other plane travelers, they too agreed. So while our cultures may differ, the two groups have the same answers as the divide that exists amongst those who actively pursue and study the magical arts. There is a stark contrast in opinion regarding the nature of magic on Sincadere. Both native and foreign entities draw differences in the current resonance of magic.

My name is Jiro Nakayama and within these pages I shall attempt to lay bare the entire history as we know it, of this world, our world, Sincadere.
