Code of Conduct
Consent is Key
Presence
Players must post into a scene before they are considered there. By posting into a scene you are consenting to the RP.
If a player did not post into a scene, it is established they were not there and were just observing (OOC).
Players cannot RP witnessing or hearing what others have done/said IC'ly if you do not make it known you are in a scene.
Consent
A player has the right to ask to join a RP with another player, or group of players, as long as the entire party agrees.
A player has the right to ask for combat.
A player has the right to ask if another wants to be white-knighted (rescued).
However....
A player has the right to refuse RP with another player or group of players.
A player has the right to refuse combat.
A player has the right to refuse being white-knighted (rescued).
But keep in mind…
If you are in an open and general RP area, there is some level of expectation that it is an open space and people shouldn't be shut out of a scene. Obviously, your character may not pay attention to everyone and ignore someone IC'ly, but be mindful of your fellow players and try to be inclusive.
Also…
There is no 'get out of jail free' card for consequences upon an IC action your character took. One cannot simply say no to the consequences of actions. As long as the consequences are respectful of your limits, then you have to RP it out.
This is an adult, dark fantasy RP sim. Adult things will happen. Terrible, twisted, and perverse things can and will happen.
If you have a list of limits ten miles long, don't go poking the bear then cry 'no bears!' when that bear tries to eat you.
Remember, you don't have to RP everything out that happens to your character. You can FTB a scene you are not comfortable RP'ing out. Or you can discuss alternative consequences with those involved.
The option to FTB (Fade-to-Black) a scene is preferred over avoiding a RP or voiding a scene.
Don't Be a Dick
No griefing/trolling: This can be by means of, but not limited to:
Using a non-approved HUD.
Crashing an RP without consent of those involved (Please be aware that some areas on the sim are IC restricted. Most areas are free and open to RP in).
Dropping griefer objects/prims/particle bloomers/temp rezzers onto the sim.
It is fine to rez stuff for RP, but it can't be disruptive to other RP, high land impact (Keep under 100 LI), or spam particles.
No OOC harassment/bullying: This can be by means of, but not limited to:
Hounding someone for nudes, voice, ERP.
Threatening another person.
Read the Room, be considerate of others. This includes, but is not limited to:
Allow everyone a chance to participate and contribute to the story.
Prioritize collaborative storytelling over individual spotlight moments.
Avoid interrupting or Roleplaying over others during hosted Roleplay Events.
Have Fun!
Communicate with your RP partners:
A quick IM to check in is a great way to avoid any OOC issues in a scene and resolve any conflicts without needing to have staff involved.
Be inclusive:
We have all been the new person on a sim before and know how daunting it can be to get started... reach out to a new player. Who knows, you may find a new RP buddy.
Be respectful:
You don't have to like everyone... but we can be civil to one another so everyone can enjoy the sim.
Get involved:
Join a faction, a guild, run a shop, etc.
Start some IC conflict. Nothing stirs up RP better than some IC shenanigans.
Share your ideas:
Got an event, plot-hook, or other nifty idea for the sim? Talk to a staff member and get that ball rolling.
