What is a Faction Leader?
A Faction Leader is the head of one of the three (3) established territories of Origins of Sin (OS). These are: the Kingdom of Helheim, the Skull Coast, and the Cabbala Amartia. The Faction Leaders are the individuals who lead their factions, dictate the direction they go In-Character, as well as organize things for their faction Out-of-Character.
Are Faction Leaders staff?
Yes. Faction Leaders become a member of staff. Their primary responsibility is to act as a go-between between their faction and the Administrative Staff of OS. Faction Leaders are often the first point of contact for disputes within the faction, or any concerns they have with the sim in general.
What are the requirements to be a Faction Leader?
Have your MAIN character be active for at least one month within the faction in question.
Be willing to commit a majority of your SL time towards roleplaying as the Faction Lead in OS
Know Sim Rules, Code of Conduct, Combat Rules, Lore, and the steps to starting a guild. All of this information can be found in the ‘Welcome to Origins of Sin’ notecard given in the information board at the landing zone.
What is the process to becoming a Faction Leader?
If you meet the requirements to become a Faction Leader when a position becomes available:
A form will be provided to be filled out, these questions will be evaluated by the OS Staff.
An interview will be scheduled with no less than two OS Staff members to discuss the position.
After all interviews are completed, each applicant will be contacted by a staff member before the new Faction Lead is announced.
Is there anything else I should know?
Individuals with active warnings or those who are frequently corrected by Admins, Moderators or Staff are unlikely to be selected as a Faction Leader.
While not required, it is generally advised to have a second-in-command (2iC) in mind when submitted to be a Faction Lead. Provided the selected individual has no active warnings and is an active veteran member of the community, they are within the purview of the Faction Leader to select. If they are interested in becoming a Liaison, they will be required to complete the Liaison process.
Becoming a Faction Leader is a major commitment that should not be made lightly, Faction Leads often have little time for personal RP’s and are expected to mediate a large group of people with the goal of facilitating a fun roleplay space for everyone. Thankfully it is expected for the Staff and other Faction Leads to provide information and assistance for new Faction Leads, so if you make this step do not be afraid to ask for help.
